Stockport County have now gone into administration. Another team to be docked points next year.

I know Gannon really likes it at County but surely Pools should try and get him across here.

you have to love the website its announced on, also I know not being a pessimist here but with southampton and stockport on -10 before the start we should hopefully be ok

Looks like before a ball is kicked in anger for the 2009/10 season the relegation places will just about be sorted. They wont be the last in my opinion.

Correct, but it does leave a nasty taste in view of the fact a club can conveniently choose to go into administration to suit its own agenda, which naturally it's going to take advantage of. I think that the last day of January should be the date for points deductions this season and anything after applies to the following season.

So basically Stockport knowing they cant be relegated go into administration with only 1 game to go.10 point deduction after Saturday's game will leave them on a minimum of 50 points, the most Carlisle can get but with a goal difference of 18 on Carlisle

So if all the results possible happen to get us relegated happen, we end up below Stockport on goal difference as well

Anyone smell a rat here.

They know Carlisle wont make up 18 goals , so even if Pools , Northampton, Brighton and Carlisle win they stay up and dont have any points deducted next season.

The rules were meant to stop clubs doing what Leeds and Boston tried, in this case Stockport, in my opinion have used them knowing they are safe from relegation.

Looks like another rule change needed.

I thought the rules changed again in 2007 when Leeds went into admin after the final game but before the end of the season and started last season on -17. I know this was further complicated by the CVA issue. I can't find the updated rules on the FL site but my understanding was that if clubs go into admin after the 4th Sat in March then the deduction is next season unless an immediate deduction would result in them being relegated this season. Most people on the BBC messageboards seem to agree with this interpretation.

Unibond team Woodley Sports FC are owed money by Stockport and were due 20% of Liam Dickinson's transfer fee when he was sold to Derby for £750,000.

As a result they may also go into administration as they were relying on the money to survive.

Even if the 10 point penalty is this season. If they dont come out of admin to the satisfaction of the football authorities before next season they will be hit with another 17 point deduction. just like Rotherham and Bournemouth this season.

As that's been posted twice, does it mean they'll get docked 20 points?

Teams should be punished much more severely for going into administration - automatic relegation to the conference the following season no matter what league you are in seems like a fair punishment to me. Maybe then clubs will stop taking the piss....?

Just talking to some Stockport fans and seems Gannon has now been sacked by the administrators (sp). Not sure how true but they seem pretty sure. Surely worth Pools looking at getting him.

Isn't this something to do with the CVA must be agreed by 70% of the creditors and all footballing debts must be paid in full?, the same thing that Bournemouth, Luton and Rotherham fell foul of last season and got hammered for.

It's a very logical progression isn't it - from Jim Gannon to Jim Gone.
