Nah, I don't think it was against us. Especially given that they steamrolled us 4-1 both times.

I've just got Roy Keane's book out of the library. Some of the players with books out defy belief. Ashley Cole- FFS. Keane has had a long and interesting career, even if the majority of it was for the Mancs, I'm looking forward to hearing about what he's got to say about the Mick Macarthy incident and the Alf Inge Haaland. :coool:

I've got both Keane's and Lee Sharpe's....both very good until Sharpe starts going on about 'I'm a celebrity' or whatever 'programme' it was....but that isn't till near the very end anyway!!!! confised

If I remember rightly in Sharpe's book he mentions Pools a few times aswell....and not taking the piss either!!!! :coool:

Others I've got and read....

John Barnes - Just a whinging tvvat!!!! confised

Gordon Strachan - very good read!!!! :coool:

Rio Ferdinand - (from the bargain bucket at Tesco which our lass got for me for 50p)!!!! ....I couldn't believe it when she brought it in as I despise the bloke....but it was one of the best I've ever read and it changed my perception of him....slightly!!!! confised confised
Did you know he used to do Ballet!?!?

I've got loads....too many to mention....but I always find the best ones are of Players from years ago....

Nat Lofthouse
Wilf Mannion
Denis Law
Stanley Matthews
Len Shackleton
Tom Finney
Dixie Dean

etc etc etc

Puts the game into perspective reading about the old players compared to the pampered millionaires of today's game!!!!

I remember reading somewhere recently that Drogba donates 20% of his pay to his home country and that he is wanted by local militia for funding their opposition. He also does a lot of charity and ambassadorial work in Africa. Maybe his book is about that?

de la cruz used to donate 50% of his wages back to his family in africa.

Ferdinands is a good read and also changed my view of him too, a sound guy who is from a rough area who made summit of himself.

Books i enjoyed the most...

mcGrath
Whiteside

Mcgraths is a very good read, how he kept playing to the top of his game at 35, no training, knee's gone, on the drink n drugs, yet won player of the year, awesome, pure athlete.

Jimmy Greaves was about the best footballers autobiography I have read - at least he has lived a bit.

I bought a signed copy of Len Ashursts book the other week - his section on his time at Pools was very illuminating, especially the bit about Tony Parry. He also has a a chapter on the betrayal of grass roots football which was spot on. clappp

They aren't going to miss it, but a nice touch all the same!

Don't want to appear picky, but that would be a Crown. Half-a-crown would be 12 and a half p.

Yeah the publishers will think there is a Holloway book craze, prevent it from being "pulped" like the great book bouncing back
