What a disgrace this government is that they can stoop so low to refuse these brave men the privelege of staying in the UK after they have served in the British armed forces.
I have served with the Gurkhas and it was an honour to do so. I urge all ex servicemen and all citizens who have a heart to lobby their MP to get this decision overturned.

Maybe they should draw their Kukris and let them taste the blood of Gordon Brown before they are returned to their scabbards.

The government were defeated in a Commons vote today 267 to 246.

Truly, a victory for democracy in Britain.

Is the first indication that Gordon Brown is heading out ?

My grandad fought alongside Gurkhas in Burma in world war two, and reckons they're among the best soldiers in the world.

The bairn's childminder lives next door to one, and she reckons they make a lovely curry.

Let them stay!

I find it ludicrous that they can only get rersidency if the serve 20 years, yet there maximum term is 15 years sctatchinghead ....but ...any other nationality serving with the British forces has to serve only four years to be automatically granted residence ...madness.
A government of middle aged 60's radicals who've never had to live in the real world.

This vote is a warning shot across the bow. Brown knows that he makes mistakes on this in the future dithering on a decision, that could prove costly with the electorate. The Government had to do something about this today, otherwise with an election just coming round the corner, the electorate could hae punished him for this. Hopefully now, the storm's calmed now.

I love Ghurkas. They're among the the most fervent piss artists I've ever seen.
BTW these are Ghurka civs I'm talking about. The civs have the knives too and know how to use them. They are totally fookin' frightening.

So much for some people on here thinking the University of Kent was a "polytechnic" then.

That's the world-class modern British state education system for you.

At least I don't regard myself a Yuppie, that's all I'll say.
