After Saturday's results and two dropped points by Carlisle, I'm a little bit confused as to whether we should regard ourselves as theoretically or mathematically safe.

I understand there's got to be a huge swing on GD and other results to go our way, but there is a theory we could still be relegated.

What does everybody think?

We cant regard ourselves as mathematically safe due to the fact that we are not mathematically safe.
Having said that I still think we are as good as safe, possibly, maybe, hopefully, please

No, I like your thinking there, Groovy.

POK,'theoretically' is usually a term used to describe something that is highly unlikely to happen, but is possible.
We are probably safe, but theoretically Crewe could still stay up.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we lost Northampton

No, that's absolutely true and MK Dons need the points to guarantee they finish top of the play-off group.

Well, he didn't say who he was talking to there when he said it.

Not really being able to tell whether we're safe doesn't mean I'm thick.

Nobody came on here after Leeds and celebrated the fact that Carlisle and others couldn't catch us on points, nor did anybody sort of moan that the race had been taken to the last day with us not mathematically sfe.

So I was confused as to what's happened. That's why I posted the poll. Now I've heard from otheres, I can conclude that we are more than likely safe, barring a catastrophe on Saturday.

You came on and asked "Are we mathematically safe after Saturday?" and decided to do a poll on a question that only has one answer.

Surely "most likely yes" and "possibly not" mean the same thing in this context sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

edit: and come to think of it the "would prefer something from the bristol rovers game to be sure" means exactly the same too!!!

Its like posting the following poll:

Q) Is PoK stupid?

A1) Yes
A2) Certainly is
A3) too fecking right

POK, your question is similar to one asking opinions on whether 2+2=4. You can't have a poll on a mathematical calculation.

As a consequence, the girl in the Bunker logo has decided to make a comeback.

The 'questions' in this poll, .... you can actually answer yes to everyone and not contradict the other two .....I see a future in politics for whoever thought them up.

Look, you're all not getting the point. Theoretically, anything is possible if your theory is adapted to the proposition (or enouncement as we scholars call it). Now, theoretically Pools gould get 3 points and mathematically be safe, provided your theory allows for winning (which mine almost does). Pools could even be arithmetically safe, depending on whether 1 + 1 = 3 or not. Algebraically it's not so sure, although Chip, I hear, has a winning formula. Trigonometrically, it depends on which angle you look at it from. Geometrically, I was tempted to say Eu must be Clidian, but the way things are Shaping Up, maybe it's not as daft as all that. To sum matters up, mathematical discussion, as Liebnitz once said, is the food of the uneducated.
The French have a word (a sentence actually) for this. They say "j'en ai entendu, des conneries, mais ça prend le biscuit".
