 Post subject: Some ratings..

I don't think we've had any ratings from yesterday so here's mine;

Budtz 7; His kicking was woeful but his attitude is excellent, what a good pro. He's been frozen out and ridiculed (I've done it myself on here) yet he comes into the team by default and puts as much into the game as that. He was punching the air when he made that save at 2-2 and he went crazy when we scored. He handling was good and he made a couple of good saves. Credit to you Mr Budtz.

Liddle 4; Not his finest day, seems a bit nervous and low on confidence at the moment. Had a bit of a torrid time, gave them too much space and got skinned a few times. I thought he was terrible, McCunnie looks a better option at full back.

Humphreys 5; He was OK until he got skinned for the second goal, then that horrific miss kick which resulted in him being subbed for the much more solid looking Skarz. I'm sure he still has plenty to offer just not at full back.

Collins 5; He scored so he's getting a five, enough said!

Nelson 4; He didn't score so he's getting a four, enough said! What the fook was wrong with him yesterday!!? That piece of 'defending' which ended up with him running out the ball for a corner second half is actually hard to describe. What was he doing!!? His decision making is all over, he seems to want attack everything even when he's nowhere the ball and the centre backs have to be blamed for the first goal.

Jones 6; Should be playing centre midfield, he is not a winger.

Clark 5; I really don't think he his playing well. He hasn't the legs to play in midfield, the way the tall black lad strolled past him first half was embarrassing. He also is slowing the game down on the ball. I love Ben Clark, not in a gay way, I'd pick him every week but amazingly I'd pick him IN HIS PROPER POSITION. I mean I know that might sound quite radical but....

Sweeney 8; See what I wrote about Ben Clark and playing people in their PROPER POSITION, well Mr Sweeney backs up this statement. It's like we've rediscovered a player we forgot we had.

Monkhouse 7; Another lively display, seems to be enjoying his football again. Earlier in the season his body language suggested he wasn't

Porter 8; It's all been said about Joel. We have never had a player with a better first touch, in his five years in England he should have played at a higher level. Lucky for us he hasn't. Deserved a hat-track when he hit the bar, made the fourth, quality and you can tell he cares about playing for Pools he's not sitting out the last weeks of his contract he wants to leave on a good note.

Parker 6; Decent again, needs a goal, looked well pissed off when he was put on the right. I'd sign him. Nardiello looks the obvious option to play wide right for me, not Parker.

Subs;

I'll mention one who I thought did well when he came on but other people I've spoken to don't seem to agree;

Nardiello 7; I thought he we was quality and made a difference. Played one of the passes of the match to Sweeney who was unlucky with his first touch, and looked to make things happen. Clearly a good player, like Parker, who just needs a run of games and a goal or two.

i agree with most of that, however they defense clearly didn't have confidence in Budtz.

I would also like to point out that even with Budtz in goal we conceded 2 goals.

The problems are more with the defense than either of the keepers. Needs a total overhaul in the summer, in fact, if ANY of the players playing defense or in goal yesterday are playing the first game of next season for us then i will be absolutely gobsmacked.

We need two hard working pacy full backs. A monster of a centre backs who takes no prisoners and a centreback with a little bit of pace who can sweep up after the afore mentioned monster. Oh and we need a competent goalkeeper...

We are probably the 5th best attacking team in the division
We are probably the 3rd worst defensive team in the division

We have the pacey centre half in Clark, we just need a ball winning midfielder so he can drop back.

I'd agree that the defence had no confidence in Budtz that's why Nelson was trying to attack everything but after watching all season I don't any any confidence in the defence. We obviously need a better keeper Budtz isn't good enough but he done something yesterday that has happened very rarely this season, he made a big, big save.

He conceded two yes, but for me he did all that was asked of him.

If ALB had of been playing we would of conceded at least 4 - he doesn't seem capeble of saving a shot most weeks...

Agree with what PJ says about Ben Clark, we need someone who can sit in the midfield but is more mobile - it's a shame Willie Boland isn't fit....

If Ben Clark had pace he'd still be at Sunderland or another club at that level.

precisely, we need him in defence because he has a calming influence on those around him, but we lack a holding midfielder because Boland is crocked.

My team would be...

Budtz
Skarz
Nelson
Clark
Liddle
Monkey
HUMPHREYS
Sweeney
Rowell/Robson
Nardiello
Porter

I honestly think that after a couple of seasons trying to defend, he (humphreys) will have learned enough to play as a holding midfielder, but what do i know?

You missed Jones out who would be light years ahead of Humps at holding Mid IMO, I also think Parker does well and creates some good stuff so I'd have Nardiello on the wing

Football is all about opinions.

I've been saying for weeks that Liddle has been below par for the last two seasons and when I've said it people have looked at me like I'm an alien.

Someone even said Liddle was along with Sweeney and Porter one of our best players on Saturday. I've obviously been watching different matches to everyone else. rolfl

Now I like Liddle and I know he's a good footballer. That's why I'm so frustrated with him.

It's difficult to see Jones playing the holding midfield player, as his tackling is indisciplined at times. We would also lose his box to box running.
Has anybody seen enough of Power to suggest he could do the job?

Power should be able to do the jod, but alas, he has indisciplines of his own. And they dont appear to be ON the pitch.

Cant argue with your comments except I dont think anyone played quite as well as you say.

Budtz 6.
Liddle 3. Foookin tortured.
Collins 3. Abysmal
Nelson 3. Ditto.
Humphreys 5. Got progressively worse.
Jones 4.
Clark 5.
Sweeney 7.
Monkhouse 6.5
Parker 5.5. Good player but doesnt really do much, does he?
Porter 7.5
Nardiello 6. Thats the best I have seen him play. Still doesnt look the player to get us goals though. Hopefully he will prove me wrong.

Overall it was n appalling performance, pulled out of the shit by three players, as usual. Porter, Sweeney and Monkhouse.

We should have been 3-2 down, but for Budtz. The defence, as a unit, is so poor its laughable.

Even though we scored 4, did anyone honestly see us getting the 3rd? Of course not. Thats how poor we were.

If its nerves, then they want dropping for being fannies. Foookin fannies. We need players to rise above nervousness. If they cant, then they can welcome to the board for me. I hate bottleless footballers.

Get a grip pools, and start foookin defending.

EVEN if we get the players required CRISIS TURNER sounds as if he will be in charge next season, if you heard his comments on the radio so what differance will it make
