Of course they should get the vote, they are still people with a name and address arent they?....they are still human beings, being locked up 23 hours a day doesnt mean they are animals does it?

Hopefully they will all vote the Tories.

Jeffrey Archer's books are a good read

I do hope that is tounge in cheek!

Of course they are human beings, but they must loose SOME rights when being locked up, otherwise, what is the point?

I don't see any problem in prisoners having the vote either.
I'm trying to think of a reason why they shouldn't have one but nope, none comes to me.

Because it equals freedom, and its the thin edge of the wedge if prisoners are given the vote, I personally think that scum like Hartlepools finest Mr Jemmet doesn't deserve the vote and should be sent to an island to break rocks for the rest of his life, and I read the Grundiag

Why not let them out at weekends, or just dont bother locking them up at all?

Prison used to be a deterrent, it no longer seems that way, 'bird' seems to be an easier option then staying outside for some

Everybody over the age of 18 has the right to vote, it is their choice to do so or not!

BUT

If you end up inside then you made the choice to break the law and as polling booths are on the outside, tough you can't vote. that was your choice.

Why let them vote ?

Why not? It really isn't a massive issue is it? Many peoplle are inside because of one bad error when they have lead a perfetly legal life up until then.

I am far more concerned about the lack of prisions and continual early releases for prisoners than I am about prisoners voting..........

Bollox

Most people in the nick are repeat offenders and assault, murder, drug traffiking etc etc are hardly 'bad errors' are they?

Just like I hope your male rape quote is tongue in cheek Talbot - except I find it much more offensive than you will ever find prisoners having the vote to be.
Would it be acceptable to make a joke about female rape?
For what its worth I think the bunkerite powers that be should make you change that statement or ban you.
Plenty of people are in prison for far less than a kicking or (if that isnt good enough) then a male rape...but that seems to be acceptable to you.
Ironically, most people in prison probably do not give a shite about voting or not.

'except I find it much more offensive than you will ever find prisoners having the vote to be'

How do you know that?, mine was a joke, I've changed it now before I offend anyone else and before the bunker powers that be ban me!

But the thought of anyone in chokey getting the vote makes me as mad as David Hodgson

Well I appreciate you changing it Talbot as it did offend me massively.
As for your views on prisoners I understand them more but disagree.
Prison should be harder than it is, I agree with that. But I disagree with the fact that some people get locked up for not a great deal and others get crappy sentences for offences such as rape, murder and dealing heroin and crack.
Mind you I've worked with a lot of people in prison or young offenders institutes in the past and, honest, I stand by my statement that most of them probably dont give a toss about voting. Suppose that just reflects the population in general then.
