Me and Mrs Bandage are doing the Christmas food / drink shopping at the weekend, but the question is, where to do it?
Do we go to Morrisons for the buy one get one free's, (and have the store pretty much to ourselves!), or do we brave the hellhole that is "The Asda" (why do people call it that?)

Basically, where can i get the most alcohol for the least amount of money! (legally!!!) clappp clappp clappp

Christmas shopping is one long obstacle race, innit? bit like the Krypton factor without the prizes. If you're not getting stuck behind old ladies in morris minors doing 19mph, it's business men in bloody great BMWs that take half a dozen manoevres to get int car-park spaces.

Then there're the people who meet their entire collection of family and friends in Tesco's doorway, and stop everyone else getting in, and the people who hog the meat counter, phoning home on their mobies to ask what sort of sausages to buy. And it's always your queue where the person in front is paying by cheque and insisting on laboriously filling in the stub before moving on. And your other half will never tell you what he wants for Christmas.....

all this,
and still
no
Cornelius....

Although the labels on the stuff may be in German/Dutch/whatever, it is generally top notch stuff.

I used to work with a load of Germans/Austrians and they did their shopping in Aldi and Lidls, reckoning the quality to be far better than Tescos, Sainsburys or whatever.

I don't get much from there meself, but the pickled things are unbeatable, and the black forest ham from Lidl is very tasty.

I was behind a woman in the queue last year who had 12 6-litre bottles of milk.

How big is her fridge?

Does she have about 50 cats?

Does she only go shopping once a month?

Or is she just a rarf?

Always baffles me that, after all it's only a glorified Sunday Dinner, the usual excuse is...."we're expecting visitors" ...who? .... the Household Cavalry..?
