on a lighter note, was with the missus family this weekend and them being not from England picked up on a few of my phrases that they thought were funny and was wondering what ones you use.

Back Kitchen
Savaloeys (dont know how to spell them)

Edited title: (spelt wrong as typing to fast)

My pupils in Penrith use the word as well, so I don't think it is.

When I started patronising the hostelry's of Hartlepool it was the only place on earth where you went in any pub and asked for 'a pint'. When I went elsewhere it soon dawned on me you had to add things on the end of that like 'of bitter' or 'of lager'.

Is it still acceptable in Hartlepool to walk into a pub and ask for 'a pint' and get the main brew on offer. (Stongarm or Exhibition in my time).

If it is I bet all the poolies are saying what's the daft get on about (again) course you ask for a pint.

also knowing (correctly) what the following are:

pattie
fritter

also asking for a sausage at the chip shop and getting a one in batter, down here you specifically have to ask for one in batter otherwise you get a scabby witches finger sausage that looks like been in the fryer for about 3 days

Aye, about as regular on the Bunker as you are

But back to the topic. My dad used lots of local words that I've never heard since, like 'scumfished' (meaning to feel too warm), and 'binchy', to refer to his favourite nosh.

That's because I'm busy. :coool:

I'm also bored with Pools, been bored a long time, so I don't go to games and can't make a sensible contribution to the meaningful discussions which occur in this grand place.

ADG doesn't talk to me any more. sadx I think he's become a member of the Corner Flag. sadx

Me and Kev have an understanding away from here, so there.

And I DID usually talk about Pools but I stopped going to games three seasons ago. Therefore I have NO right to agree, disagree or criticise.

I can feel a resignation coming on. I'll be back in a few days.
