Can you tell me if 'casa' is synonymous with 'chez', or if not, how the meanings differ.
I also need to know if there are any subterranean or slang meanings of 'casa' that might suggest something other than it's common meaning.

I know that can' in Catalan more or less means the same as chez in French, e.g., can'José = José's place. And I'm led to believe can' and casa are equivalents.

Try the player's / management team they dont appear to speak the same language. So possibly one of them is actually of Spanish origin.

There's definetely a breakdown in communications going on there.

Casa is usually meant to mean 'home' rather than house even though the direct translation is actually house, similar as Mr Head says, to chez.
