The fight was spoilt because Khan fought a blind man. Peter Owens would have beaten Barrera tonight in that condition but the publicity will write Khan up as a world beater.

Show me a single word of support and I will unreservedly agree with you. By word of support I mean from Amir Khan not Frank Warren.

i didnt see any of our other sporting greats doing it.

did these lads get tickets for man utd vs liverpool today ? i very much doubt it.

did they get free tickets for the cheltenham gold cup ? i did not hear about it.

will they get free tickets for the rugby tomorrow. nope.

im not a great lover of the yanks, but whenever i watch american football theres nearly always mention of their troops and those home on leave are often shown sitting in the stadium in uniform.

here we have a british muslim boxer showing support for what our soldiers are doing and proving the vast majority of people appreciate their efforts and its written off as a publicity stunt.

boy you sure like to have your cake and eat it mr i.

*standing ovation*

did they get free tickets for the cheltenham gold cup ? i did not hear about it. - Yes
will they get free tickets for the rugby tomorrow. Yes

As well as Wimbledon
The FA Cup Final
The Derby
Grand National
British Grand Prix
And many many more events.

Look up something called 'The Not Forgotten Association' They collate all these freebies and share them out amongst veterans of all conflicts. You won't have heard of them of course, maybe they should enlist Frank Warren to promote them.

There are other less prominent activities.

A group were invited to Williams F!

Another group went sailing with Steve Redgrave

Some people get taken out on more simple thiings like Thames boat trips.

Others are taught archery and target shooting by the Olympics teams

I could go on but you get the idea. Fair play to Khan though if it was meant and not a publicity stunt by his publicity machine. The write up in the paper isn't exactly conclusive though.""

Quote:
Khan, a prominent voice for Anglo-Islamic relations, has made no comment publicly about his feelings over the way the regiment was treated on their return from Iraq.

But a spokesman said: "The Royal Anglians were absolutely delighted at the tickets gesture. They love watching Amir fight, and it will be a great sporting night."

Promoter Frank Warren said: "All our boxers are giving tickets to the men who went out there to do a perilous job defending our country.

I don't really blame the lad for not commenting to be honest. With the amount of extremist nut jobs kicking about in Britain these days it would probably cause him a whole world of shit.

Jesus he got death threats for sporting the Union Jack.

Mr PJ, I do understand that and I sympathise with his unenviable position. But I can't swallow Frank Warrens magnamity either, not when its put out in a press release.

I'm getting the impression he's in a no-win situation here.
give him a break FFS!

btw, didn't see the fight and backed barrera and aint Khan's biggest fan - if indeed a fan at all.

I agree with Chip,Amir Khan is a very good boxer.I dont agree about the glass jaw, that shot from Prescott would have knocked out any fighter & has probably taught Khan to be on his guard at all times & not get caught like that again.
He will be a world champion.
Mr I - you are sounding more bitter & twisted every day.

Funny enough thats exactly how I'm feeling for all sorts of reasons, few of them to do with Hartlepool United or this place.
