5 players injured, police killed as terrorists attack the Sri Lankan cricket team bus on way to the ground for test match in Pakistan.

Think that means they'll not hold a test series again for a while and will undoubtably lose joing host of World Cup in 2011.

At least it's a more exciting end to the Test than if they actually finished it on that wicket. I heard some of the bowlers preferred being shot to two days bowling on it.

The five dead policemen didn't 'only' have shrapnel wounds though.

Easy to say in hindsight but Pakistan should not be hosting any international sport at the moment, the place is just too unstable. Any team becomes a sitting duck for these nutters and endangers people like the police and security forces who protect them.

Either that or else India will just say, "Right - enough's enough, we're sending the nukes over."

Why Sri Lanka?
What the fook have they ever done to anyone except their own Tamils, who in any case are not Muslims?
What a mental attack. What on earth can they hope to achieve from it?

Some of the team are Tamils though, Muttiah Muralitharan for example.

It's just doesn't make sense, obviously they want maximum publicity for whatever cause they are carrying out these acts for. Not the wisest thing to attack though, cricket, in cricket mad countries.

Doesn't sound like it....

The Indian authorities blamed the attack - and the Mumbai assault - on a Pakistan-based militant group, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
After some procrastination, the Pakistani authorities also endorsed the Indian claim in relation to the Mumbai attacks, saying at least nine men affiliated with LeT had sailed out from its southern port city, Karachi, to attack the Indian financial hub.
It has arrested several top LeT leaders in connection with that attack.
Could it be, then, that the LeT has turned back on Pakistan to even scores?
LeT is one of a number of militant groups that are believed to have been raised, trained and funded by the Pakistani security apparatus to fight Indian troops in the disputed region of Kashmir.

An absolutely abhorrent attack. A sad day for humanity as well as for cricket fans everywhere. I fear this decade will be remembered as the decade when the world lost its common sense (apart from Obama being elected of course).

Sport and politics should be kept separate.

The police did have an opportunity to take the gunmen alive, but didn't, for some unknown reason.

Why didn't Sri Lanka have the same amount of security as England did after the Mumbai attacks ?

Why doesn't every professional sports team in these times of global terrorism have the same high standard of personal security, just to be sure?

Pakistan can kiss the 2011 World Cup goodbye, now.

Sort it out, Pakistan ! Your country has become a shambles !

I understand what you say about sport and politics being kept seperate. You're obviously a politician who stayed well clear of the Colchester game a mere 12 miles away from Gillingham which you tell us is the last outpost of Poolie support.

Unless of course you can enlighten the bunker with your eye witness account of the Colchester game. What was your view of proceedings then PoK.

Don't tell me you couldn't be bothered to go.

!

He's obviously a politician because he's presented a view without actually finding out what happened .... two civilians and six policemen were killed in the attack no terroists they all escaped!!

do some research BEFORE casting judgement in the first place...

Even the match referee Chris Broad has complained that the amount of security there was was totally inadequate.
