Didn't West Hartlepool Rugby Club splash the cash on players & end up paying the penalty? Maybe IOR have seen from this what can happen, or not happen, in the town

Yes West did splash all their cash and assets on the playing side. They gambled absolutely everything and it was lousy business. But they didn't have anywhere near the same resources as the Norwegians. We're talking magnitudes of difference.

I somehow can't see Larsen mortgaging oil platforms to buy new players and pay their wages.

How much money have Coca Cola given Darlington like? Or any other club for that matter.

If you'd told me to guess the League 2 club going into admin this week, Darlo would have been low down the list.

Why, it was very plain for any outsider to see, a massive playing squad, massive wage bill as a lot of their players are of a higher standard than L2, dreadful crowds even if the team was doing well and could go top of the league. Add to those points the amount of canceled games they have had recently I think they went a whole month without a game so no income and lastly a stupidly large stadium that must cost a fortune to run.

Hi poolies, tranmere fan here i am exiled in sunderland was just wondering if you could help me.

Last season i managed to catch the bus back after the match but can't remember the name of stop or the service that i went on. Can you tell me the name of the stop it was about ten mins walk away from the ground and was near a Yate's or something (my memory is shocking).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good luck on sat against Colchester!

Stops don't have a name. You need the bus with 'Sunderland' emblazened on the front. I hope that helps.

Yates is in Victoria Road or you could just ask for the civic centre and the driver will know where you mean.

Hope you lose by the way ...

Ok so we all have a laugh at Darlows predicament, but at the end of the day its another lower league club like Pools that could go out of existance and another sorry day for football at our level - whatever we may think, that they brought it on themselves, do we really wish that on a club, any club - at the end of the day it could have been us and how would it feel if we were in their shoes -

it makes you even more thankful for IOR

if you are getting the bus then you are better off getting it outside cactus jacks that way you can have a pint in yates while you wait
or have a post match pint in the mill house and get the bus at the odeon/mill house bus stop
