13 games to play, probably 13 points required to be certain of staying up.

With the injuries (Nardiello out for 6 weeks) Porter carrying his injury/knock into most games, we need to target certain games for victory. Then we need to rest certain players so they are available for the games we want to win.

In the away games revert to something like 4-5-1 and attempt to gain a point, but with the option to change to a different formation if the game plan goes wrong.

We have 5 home games, 2 wins 3 draws will be almost enough points (9) towards safety. Target Cheltenham and Yeovil, possibly Crewe away as winnable points and we have our target.

So Saturday rest Porter again, move Guy up front bring Rowell in, if we play 4-4-2 then use Foley as 2nd forward, he had good games this season playing through the middle, and hopefully we can pinch somrthing, like a last minute penalty like last night and get more than a point.

it a squad game , ours is thin but it what we got so we need to be sure the big players are available when we need them, even if it means Porter doesn't play another away game this season, he will but there should be times when Turner just says Joel your having a day off.

aye - but if Stockport part company with Jim Gannon - that is one away game we must target all three points.
He is the man who is holding it all together down there and it looks like he might be off to Brighton, and I think Stockport will collapse like a pack of cards when he goes.
In fact it is one game, if I was Turner, I would then approach like a home game and go for their throats and try and give them a right good going over.

I was just saying the same thing on a different thread Bob - now that we are struggling with injuries up front it would make sense to play with 5 in midfield to me. We could put Rowell in front of Clark and Liddle as a more creative feed for the lone front player. We may not have much option anyway the way things are going...

If we'd had 52 points three seasons ago (for example if we'd beat Port Vale), we still wouldn't have stayed up unless we'd managed some big wins in the last 13 games. We need to hope (pray?) for a bit more than a point a game to be comfortable.
Four wins and two or three draws, or three wins and a shitload of draws should do it.

IMHO we have to try to win all six home games and maybe stonewall the aways, though I'm not convinced the latter is within our abilities.

Fook it. Forget all the above. Let's just win them all; that will leave us on 78 points.

Last time we were teetering on the brink I started a relegation indicator thingy where every point we gained and every point our relegation rivals lost brought a magic number down. When it reached zero we were safe.

Now if that wasn't tempting fate I don't know what was. All I know is I won't be doing it again!!

As for Hexham, I think he gave up when his figures failed to convince Mike Newell to win the division with us.
