It hasn't happened yet! It needs to be ratified at a FL meeting in the future. What don't you understand?

That will come once the League confirm it.

It's all protocol to ensure everything's above board.

Nobody is denying that, of course they will lose points. They just haven't had them taken off yet. The question is, with darlo being in administration only a few years, do they lose 17 points like Rotherham and Bournemouth, or do they get away with it as when they were last in administration there wasn't such points penalties.

If the rules are so, and indeed a past admin before a specific date means a larger points dedcution, then if the Football League want to be seen as to have integrity, they must throw the book at Darlo for this time etc.

But if the don't do that, and deduct only 10 points, it would be another catastrophic failure of the football authorities to punish clubs that don't look after their accounts (i.e. Chesterfield   ).

A 10 pt deduction would severely damage their chances of promotion, though they could try to mount another charge, promotion and automatic prmotion would beat the least severly unlikely.

If they choose to punish the Club for what happened in the past, it would 100% definitely kill any remaining sniff Darlinton had of a chance of promotion this year !

Though last night shows that they are a club that do like to slit their own throat where a promotion campaign is concerned.

Yeah, it would have happened probably just like Leeds after they got relegated to L1.

For Clarity and recognising my mistake for which I wish to apologise, the football.co.uk FL2 table shows darlow minus 10 points on 41.

Still funny if not quite as funny as the football league doing it confised rolfl

it does matter,i need to know,if they had managed to stumble on to the end of the season and got promoted what would happen?would they still get the prize money or would it be witheld,it could have gone to pay some of their debts, and would it have been fair on those who have kept their finances in check

No, what I meant was, it doesn't matter whether you get promoted or relegated, the League should still (hopefully) punish you according.

what i mean is once the final whistle has gone on the last day of the season and a club has been promoted then goes into admin do they still get promoted with a points deduction sctatchinghead

I don't think there's ever been a case of that because, generally those clubs that tend to get points deductions tend to finish towards the bottom of the table.

we had it done to us by cheaterfield, what they did was went into admin after the final whistle when they had seen how things had turned out,so we got relegated and they stayed up,if they had done it before the final whistle we would have stayed up and they would have went down,so once the whistle had gone the new season had started(i think that's right)

Rotheham, not Chesterfield. Chesterfield were docked 9 points for financial irregularities which still allowed them automatic promotion and we finished fourth.

Football League has now announced a 10 point sanction for darlo.

Because of the Rotherham and more recently Leeds situation, the rule is now something like, go into administration before a particular date (in March, I think) and the 10 points come off the current season. Go into administration after the cut off date and the points get taken off the following season.

sorry for being a pain, but say we are running away with the league and are ten points ahead with a far superior goal difference to the second placed team and get ten points deducted can we still go up as champions and still get the prize money even though we are in admin are we still able to get promoted or are there rules to stop us?

The ten point penalty is the full punishment. But I do believe clubs have a certain length of time to get out of admin or else risk being thrown out of the league altogether.

The fourth Thursday in March is the cut off date for the deduction to apply this season. I've read that somewhere today. I suppose they have done it now, in the hope of still managing promotion through the play-offs, and so that they didn't have to start next season on -10.
