My local game so here's my report

A very poor game by two teams who are clearly lacking in confidence. We have the excuse of a team ravaged by injuries - not so sure why Swindle were so poor. Nardiello and Mackay were asked to take long balls over the top and struggled to retain the ball with both being caught offside and a lack of understanding of where the other was running. After a while the offsides stopped and we had some good spells of possession without troubling the Swindon defence. Very few chances first half with all of the danger coming through Richie H who had a nightmare heading/tackling/passing. Mickey Nelson recovered from a dodgy first ten minutes when ghe looked off his game and grew in confidence. As the game progressed Nardiello decided to run with the ball and have a shot rather than giving the ball away cheaply - sadly he didn't seem to have the right boots on.

Second half we started slowly and Swindon had the better of the play without creating too much. Richie had a better second half and when their winger switched sides all their threats came down our right side. Nardiello had agood run through and flashed his shot just over the bar. At the other end ALB made a good save from Peacock.

The game had 0-0 written all over it for the ref to intervene with only a couple of minutes left. Foley (on for Mackay who suffered a pull/cramp) challenged for a ball on the edge of the box and the referee adjudged that their centre back had his feet up in his head and that it was a pen. Nobody in the team or in the stand appealled for a pen and the Swindon team went apeshit but Ben Clarke put it to the left of their keeper who got a hand to it and it creeped into the side of the net. Amid the euphoria the chants of "Wilson Out " rang around the Poolie faithfull (all 75 of them) to the bemusement of Swindon fans who made their way to the exits. The goal celebration and the reaction of the players at the final whistle displelled any doubts that the players aren't up for the fight. Three points from a poor game.

ALB - 7 steady game, one important save, good handling (bar one fumble) and a couple of dodgy kicks
Sweens - 5 - fair first half but struggled second half against a lively winger
Nelson - 7- good after a dodgy first ten minutes
Collins - 7.5 - competed well and made some good tackles
Richie - 4 - sad to see but he is having a torrid time
Guy - 5 - disappointing looked abit anonymous and struggled to link up
Liddle - 6 - not involved enough first half, better second half
Clark - 8 - my MOM, covered every blade of grass and secored the pen. Enjoyed the night more than most. Can't think why.
Monky - 6 - put himself about without really threatening
Mackay - 6 - showed some good control but struggled to link up or creat clear chances
Nardiello - 7 - more dangerous as the game went on

Turner/West - 8 - lots of passion and got a response from the team

Ref - 10 - can we have him every week

I should add that our delivery of dead balls from free kicks around the box was awful - nearly as bad as our attempts at goal from dead balls. Don't we ever practice free kicks in training?

agreed - Liddle and Monkhouse both produced shocking dead ball deliveries all night!!! We had plenty free kicks in good areas but hardly caused them any problems, apart from the last 2 or 3 we had!!!! Considering we had well over a dozen good set piece positions, that percentage of good balls into the area is poor - in fact the first three or four never even got higher than the midriff of the defenders, who just collected the ball back!!!

FFS banghead Clark sent it to his left and the keeper dived right to parry it into the net (they were facing different direction you know) and I can spell Clark with or without an e and did both in my match report therethere

Yeah but it depends which way you were looking at it. Right can be left and left can be right.

Just a couple of questions, did the Swindon fans boo the team off at the end and did Danny boy wave to the traveling Poolies?.
