How many own goals have we celebrated this season?

I seem to remember Tony Smith slicing a cracking own goal past our keeper (Eddie Blackburn?) at the Town End against Tranmere just before half time about 20 years ago.

Did it really happen or have I dreamt it?

Don't know. I have no record of it, but I only have entered the opposition lineup/scorers for around 65-70% of the matches. I should hopefully be finished that enormous task by the end of the year. Certainly nobody has scored two own goals for us in the same match. There are three opponents who have scored two (league) own goals for us, but they were in different games.

Billy Dennis, Stalybridge Celtic 1921/22 and Chesterfield 1926/27
Denis Howe, Darlington 1951/52 and 1952/53
Norman Noble, Rotherham United 1950/51 (home and away!)

There has also never been two different opposition players scored own goals for us in the same league match. We scored two own goals in the 5-2 FA Cup defeat at Bournemouth (Baker and Stokes), and there may be others

Thanks for that effort. clappp

when I was younger I remember having had a one-off encounter with a young "lady" whose reputation wasn't that of say, someone like Mary Whitehouse - and while I was driving home there was much itching and scratching required in my pants as it became apparent some creatures had hatched - it was a very difficult job to keep focussed on the control of the car to put it mildly
Not very happy having to go and get that sorted out first thing the next day refred banghead banghead

Any road up, the best own goal I remember at Pools was a flying header from Bournemouth's full back, we beat them 3-1 I think
