When I went to Norway a few years ago I saw a whaling ship with a great big harpoon on the front. I naively thought all whaling had been banned worldwide, so I asked a Norwegian about it.

Apparently some species can be 'fished' carefully and their numbers don't deplete, so they don't see a problem with it. He made the point about many European countries happily overfishing stuff like cod which may have a massive impact on the environment, but at the same time getting all misty-eyed about the sustainable catching of marine mammals, regardless of their numbers. I've got to agree with him.

How come narwhals don't stab the fook out of each other? Or maybe they do.

Dunno. I suppose there must be the odd accident, some of them tusks look really sharp.

I wonder what narwhals would taste like...? I suppose you could deep fry a small one in batter, leave the horn in and use it to eat it without getting your hands greasy. I could be on to a winner here.
