looked at National Rail Enquiries and Trainline websites, both indicate a fu-ck on that day getting trains from Liverpool Street to Colchester. Normally it's only 50 minutes total, but it's going to be an hour and three quarters because the train only goes as far as Billericay, then it's a replacement bus service to Colchester.
I think I'm going to rule that out now.
Plus there are only £22 singles available between Darlo and Kings Cross, and they involve getting on those trains at rather unsociable hours to say the least.
I'm looking at the motor now, or cadging a lift I reckon
