Lacie drives are French and in many opinions the best drives on the market, I bought a 1tb desktop drive 2 years ago for just over 250 quid and its been fantastic. I also have a 400gb Tesco's drive that cost 45 quid and that has been very good value, last year I bought a Freecom drive from PC World and it was rubbish.

Yeah I'd be inclined to go for the Tesco one too.

BTW, according to LaCie themselves, they are based in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA, just round the corner from Sheffield Wednesday.
That wouldn't necessarily stop them being French like.

Stu I have 3 desktop drives that add up to just under 2tb and I have 108gb of free space or so it tells me, the problem with having so much space is that you never delete anything at all. rage

Haha, Your right there bluemonkey. I've got 750GB Space here of which I have around 140GB free.

Least without deleting anything, You dont lose any important files, After accidentley deleting them
Problem is I bet some files are so damn hard to find.

I've got a tb drive. It's about 80% full and most of it is the same stuff duplicated all over the place. I'm paranoid about deleting things, trouble is, the things I really want to find, I can't!

I really must sort that mess out.

I can only speak for myself here but I have 1 drive full of fillums that I never watch, I drive full of games that I may play once every blue moon and 1 drive with 4,500 albums(rough guess) that I may play about 50 of them.

I have good intentions in tranfering the fillums and mp3's onto disc but I very rarely get round to doing it, I did find the whole 9 series of the X Files on one drive so I may convert them this year.

You can easily fill a TB, I have mirrored TB Drives and i am at about %90 full. Gonna have to get another pair. I have a lot of fillums on mine, baring in mind 1 fillum is about 8gb in its original format once ripped. That way i dont have to put any dvd in my player i just pick them from a menu. If you can afford it i would definately recomend running 2 in a mirror so theres no chance of file loss.

Recovery software wont help you if you have a mechanical failure of the drive. Not unless you want to start stripping down a hardrive to individual plattens
