They sent me a fine for non submitting a self assessment form three years ago and I've got a reciept for it when I handed it into the tax office  I haven't told them about the reciept yet. Should I ?

It's only taken them a year to give us it - if we are one day late with the VAT payment they hit us with a fine either as a percentage, or if that doesn't give them enough money then it's as a minimum amount - whichever is higher for them!!!!!!!!! refred

aye, and it will be up to YOU to prove what you've paid to them . They are allowed to make any assumption they like, which you have got to contest with hard facts. They don't have to produce evidence of anything, but are allowed to use the worst case scenario for you (which they frequently do to people). They are bastards if they are allowed to be.
