Can anyone confirm or deny this story.

When the above mentioned, slightly eccentric lady formed her Lonely Hearts Club in Hartlepool in the very early sixties, the male membership contained a number of musicians. She decided that they should form a band to get some publicity for her club. (You've probably guessed where this is going). They played a few gigs and at one point were invited to perform on a bill that included an up and coming band called The Beatles. The story goes that their allotted time had to be cut from the show but that the lads in the band had had a good chat with the Beatles behind stage before the Fab Four played their set.
Was "Evelyn Harrisons Lonely Hearts Club Band" later recalled when the Beatles named Sgt Peppers........"

I was told this story many years ago and am not convinced. Anyone ?

Or did I just dream it.

£2,868 5s/3d was the cost of what?

The clue is in the thread.

Fair enough. As I said I was never convinced but seeing the reference to EHLHC on the title page banner thought I would ask.

What about when Lennon asked EHLHCB's drummer "are the bottom of those shoes leather?" to which he replied "No they've got rubber......

Coat......Get.

Isn't Wikipedia wonderful

"The collage was assembled by Blake and his wife during the last two weeks of March 1967 at the London studio of photographer Michael Cooper, who took the cover shots on March 30, 1967 in a three-hour evening session. The final bill for the cover was £2,868 5s/3d, a staggering sum for the time — it has been estimated that this was 100 times the average cost for an album cover in those days."
