Thats pretty much what it boils down to.
The death bells are ringing for new music because a lot of people would rather watch a cover/tribute band that chance seeing someone they dont know & a lot of musicians go for the easy life.
On Friday night there was a 9 piece band,The Urban Voodoo Machine on,they have headlined stages at many festivals including Glastonbury,Lost Vagueness & Electric Picnic,just done a full tour supporting The Pogues & run a successful club night in London every month.
After spending a substantial fee to get them here & plugging the gig everywhere & anywhere we could think of we ended up with 80 customers.
This was a fantastic gig & everyone who was there was blown away by them yet still the were 100 or so places left unsold.
There has been a hell of a lot of time & effort put in by a team of unpaid volunteers over the last few weeks to keep this place open & as much as I love the venue I cant help thinking that it will never work as people in Hartlepool just wont pay to watch bands

Just people would prefer to go to Nexus the shiit tip and listen to razorlight and the killers on repeat that have some loud music played at them!!!

tickets were £8 for that gig i think..... but they charged something like £1500 (not £2500)

Last time i went to the studio was to see Half Man Half Biscuit Feb 2000.
Brilliant gig.
