once Jones and Liddle had shut down Kavanagh from dominating the centre of the park, it was all Pools in the last half hour.
Kavanagh needed help from his midfield partner but we overran them in the last half hour, and should have won it.
The tone of the game was set when Henderson tried to square it instead of shooting - what was he thinking about there? sctatchinghead
They went ahead almost immediately and it was a struggle to wrestle the initiative back. The next goal after going two down was crucial to that and we got it - well done to Monkhouse, he was superb tonight.
I have no doubt if we had taken the lead first, then we would have comfortably gone on to win.
All that said, we do need one or two in, to give everyone a lift and provide more options from the bench - that was something in evidence tonight.
The players who started the game changed it as there was no other choice for them but to dig us out of it - because there was nobody to bring on who could have made a difference.

monkhouse played well, but, do you not think he may have wandered away from his position on the post to allow the second carlisle goal to go in?? it looked very much the case from where i was standing

what we are lacking at the minute is a player like tinkler, someone who can take the game by the scruff of the neck when things aint going right and drive the other players on. I would say we need a new right winger so monkhouse can go back on the left as robson was shocking last night, a centre mid who can control a game and at least 2 forwards. o and a keeper but that is highly unlikely seen as wilson brought 3 in!!!

i thought jones did take the game by the scruff of the neck last night, he was excellent.

again.

Not in the first half he didnt, but agreed he did much better in the second.

Henderson struggled in my opinion and when given a chance to open his account he panick Clarke for me was mom, how some papers give it to Ritchie I fail to understand was his usual self though he did had 1 run and one shot Clarky was assured on the ball made some telling clearances and some incisive passes

After Carlisles two over forties players tired.

We commented that they looked an old team, several pot heads and more than one silver fox.

I swear our comeback coincided with three of them pissing themselves and a couple of cases of angina.
