Nice one Elvis. Looks like I should have kept my copy of the 1965 EP purchased from Bruce Moore

I saw them live in 1971 in Tadcastle doing a pub gig. Preceeded Iggy Pop in style. Only went cos a mate Des Pierce thought they were great and ended up in the dressing room. No worries though, me virginity is still intact like.

The Rolling Stones nabbed the only free slot for the novelty "bad boy" look; it was too much of a culture shock to leave room for another. Clean-look groups like the Dave Clark Five had a much bigger appeal.
As for the sound, at the time the PTs sounded to the man in the street very like the Stones, so either way they couldn't sell on originality.
Meanwhile the Animals, Them, and Manfred Mann were laying down the rules for British Rhythm and Blues, which is pretty much (accidental pun) the sound you hear in that clip. But the demand for that kind of music was way overshadowed by Beatles/Who type rock. You'll observe that the three aforementioned groups soon either ran out of ideas (Them), split up (Animals), or changed styles (MM) while the Beatles and the Who went from strength to strength.

That's my theory anyway.
