Agreed also. He was everything Matty Robson wasnt, on the other side. But I am sure someone will come on and tell me he has a bad attitude.

Matty Robson did little wrong, he had two players on him most of the time.

Give West Ham their due they did their homework by always sticking 2 on Robson, they didn't give him a chance to get round the outside of the full back which is his strength.

But Monkhouse was back to his best lets hope he can keep it up until the end of the season now clappp clappp

I thought he was good going forward but crap tracking back, just jogging and looking disinterested in that side of things a lot of the time. Not a good all round midfielders performance. sadx

I agree with Mr Ripper, Sweens was left 2 on 1 loads of times in the first half. Going forward though Monky was quality.

it's like the Humphreys situation on the other side - Humphreys is a tremendous footballer going forward and threading passes in the opponents half - but he gets done for pace as a defender and if he's left one on one he struggles. When he's in the middle, he always gets back to help double up on an opponent with his own full back like all wide players should - that's his best role without a doubt.
Monkhouse is another great attacking player, and tracking back to help out the full back is an area he should take more responsibility for, to avoid leaving Sweeney exposed in any two v one situations.

one of the most telling quotes from the commentarty team yesterday cant remember who said it but in the half time analysis

they (hartlepool) defend too narrow - how true that is

both sweens and ritchie both get pulled into the centre far too much leaving the oppostions wide men with far to much space meaning they then have ground to make up to stop the crosses coming in they need to be tigher on the wide men - why dont they ? is it because they are frightened of being outpaced if too close or just that neither are full backs

Can't see Monkey wanting to sign for wilson - wilson never came across as a fan of monkey . Seemed to spend more time on bench this season - either being brought off or waiting to get on.

Monkey has improved with every game since wilson went - yesterday's was his best yet (except for the nutmeg - the look on his facewas a picture!!)

If we address our lack of firepower theres no reason why we shouldn't push on for the remainder of the season. I'd like to think we've got an OUTSIDE chance of reaching the playoffs if we address this concern.... (I know I'm clutching at straws here but Boydy and Joel have done it before why not again...)

We haven't got a chance of reaching the play-offs, we're 15 points adrift and we are in a poor run of form, we lack consistency, have key players injured, have problems in the majority of areas in the pitch and the Chairman has said if new players are brought in then it'll be on a temporary basis.

Scoring goals is just one of the few problems we have.

actually, I think there should be an extra word on the end of the "scoring goals" bit - scoring goals "away"
We are the division's top goalscorers at home for the second season running so far.
