In theory is a good idea, but respect has to be given two ways, and has to be earned.

Referee's like Mason will only hinder the respect campaign the FA want to run.

I have never seen him put in a good performance when in charge of a Pools game. A man who sent Ross off, against Brentford, and if my memory serves me right, booked the same player whilst he was being stretchered off at Stockport.

To run any sort of respect campaign Mason and any other referee who make a BLATANTLY obvious mistake as he made today when awarding West ham a penalty, should be made to appear on tv and apologise not only to the team he has cost but their supporters.

At 1-0 down we may get back into the game or West Ham may up their game to win more comprehensively, we will never know, but to go in at half time 2-0 down after being so closed to going in 0-0 will affect tthe player's.

So come on the FA if you want respect start to give it to the player's and supporter's get Mason on tv to apologise.

What are linesmen paid to do? I always thought they were there to assist the referee by spotting stuff such as fouls, hand balls, offsides etc. Why didnt that pratt on the line spot the hand ball? If he had he could have said "actually Mr Mason you fooking idot the hand ball was 4 feet outside the box so is not really a penalty".
Then we could have had a proper 2nd half.

Maybe the lino thought it wasn't a handball anyway? THe ref chose not to consult and gave the penna straight away ...Wouldn't surprise if he was bent just like that other fooka at cardiff.... Looking for an excuse to give them a penalty..

Pools and Big Games you always know the ref's gonig to fook us over...

Thing is, the linesman has a perfect view and didnt put his flag up. It was an obvious hand ball but at the time the West Ham player who was at least 3 feet ahead of Nelson was still outside of the box. I can't believe the lino didnt see it.
Mason was just outside the centre circle and his view must have been crap.

That's one thing about Pools which boils my piss. No one ever challenges the ref. Everyone else does.
