exactly. There's a whole generation of footballers just in it for the money these days, there's no passion for the game in a lot of them. That can only spell the end of football in the long run.

Tony was the kind of player you take for granted.
He got on with his job; he performed it competently; his was a position you could forget about. You never shit bricks when Tony was between the opposition and the goal.

When I think of the way Scunny sauntered through our midfield on Boxing Day, if a modern day Tony Parry had been playing they'd never have got past our half way line.

Absolute respect for this man, and because of him alone I will be going to the Centenary dinner. I don't think I ever heard a bad word against him at the time (Long before Viv Anderson played his first game for England).
