Oh yeah, still very much alive, still works as a main presenter for the West region of Meridian Tonight in Southampton.

He presents a series called "The Way We Were" which looks back on peoples memories of events in the past - WWII, the 60s etc.

Yeah, that's right Barnes, he did, well at least according to Wikipedia - but that was broadcast from Anglia's studios in Norwich, like Sale of the Century.

Main Presenter??...he owns the Feckin' STATION!!!!

Well, down here, he's considered a local legend !!!!

He's been on local TV in the South and South East seemingly since the dawn of time. He's 67 now and has worked at Southern Television, TVS nad Meridian where he was the presenter of Coast to Coast before it became Meridian Tonight. He's hosted How, of course, and How 2 -I'm only 18, and I can remeber growing up with Fred Dineage and watching How on CITV.

I got a book of my Grandad's of an biography he wrote about the Kray Twins. He follows Portsmouth and ITV Meridian are planning to broadcast one new daily evening news programme for the entire South and South East with Sangeeta Bhabra, the current co-anchor of Meridian Tonight for the South East in Maidstone at the Maidstone Studios.

I grew up more with this:

(see pic below)

A small set of studios for when ITV Meridian was TVS (Television South) between 1982 and 1992, before it became Meridian on New Year's Day 1993, were just round the corner of me literally in Duncan Road, Gillingham. A few odd quiz shows were filmed but nothing really major. Our local news is broadcast from Maidstone and Fred Dinenage is still presenting the South's news from Whiteley in Hampshire, they moved from Southampton now.

Now here's today's quiz question: why is the South East's regional news called Meridian ?
