After watching Taylor v Barneveld this lot at the other championship are several leagues below. What a huge difference in standards.

Concurring.

The PDC is streets ahead.

the prize for the bbc one is £95,000 id guess what taylor won has an extra 0 on the end of that figure too

Taylor won I think £125k, with Barney getting £60k as runner up.

The difference though is the sponsorship money that they can get over and above what the pub players in the BDO get.

It's not just about who gets the prizes though. The split originally happened because the top players weren't getting enough TV exposure - by that point the World Championship was the only tournament on TV, and once a year wasn't enough to make stars of the people who were in it. No exposure=no recognition=no exhibitions=no money! PDC got straight into bed with Sky and got their tournaments at least on there if not on terrestrial. That more than anything is why the top players tend to go to the PDC - it's about the only way they can get the profile they need to make a full-time living at darts.

The standard may not be as high, but there have been some good contests on the Beeb. I was watching O'Shea v Anderson last night and it was a fantastic, tense, exciting game even if the scoring was way down on what the like of Taylor and Barneveld can do....

both quarter finals yesterday were good, but still I watch it thinking I could beat him - especially in the early rounds, whereas on sky you just marvel at how good they are!
