And after watching it I can't believe it's took me over 20 years to actually see it....it was brilliant....amazing!!!! :coool:

Never seen it before but got a copy of Oh Brother Where Art Thou for Christmas Day off Amazon for £9.

I hated Rain Man; I hated Philadelphia.

I think it's just that I generally consider them poor replacements for books.
They don't exploit their own medium to any good effect.

This is true, on the whole, tho it used not to be. Same old story...it's assumed most people like 'easy' films, so easy films are what they're given.

I was going to buy that when I bought The Hustler and The Color Of Money....until I saw the price!!!! :shock:

It was £17 odd on Amazon but i got both of the above for under a tenner!!!! confised

You would've struggled with Oh Brother Where Art Thou, it had the Ku Klux Klan in it although I suppose they don't strictly qualify as being yankees.

GET CARTER - classic english film where in the final scene Michael Caine gets shot on Blackhall beach with Steetley chimney smoking in the background.

I am going to miss that chimney when they knock it down.

I grew up looking at that chimney every day for 15 years, and even now driving around the town I can't imagine the Pally Chimney getting demolished.
It has to happen now of course with the Steetley factory finished forever, but it is a Hartlepool landmark whether we like it or not. It will be a sad day when it does go
