The Fleetwood game was one of our greatest results ever because it was foggy?

Can someone please confirm that I've just read that? I'm full of man flu you see and could actually be hallucinating.

Yeah, well actually I didn't think Pools were going to reveal what people had said in the way said.

I thought we did do terrifically well to win in the Fleetwood fog, to be honest - to score three goals in that game which if it had gotten worse it would have been called off, as I said. That fog was the worst fog I have seen at a professional football match. If Fleetwood had had no floodlights, the game would have been postponed.

Of course, saying that I would have also put down Wycombe 2007 and Tranmere in May 2005 when we clinched promotion and got through to Cardiff, just for the fact that we won promotion and got through to Cardiff, but I don't think there really has been A best win ever, as well as Stoke 2009, because the amount of excellent games that I've seen certainly in the last ten years means that there's a lot of competition between the various games that could be considered the best games ever.

Is a best ever game one which is high-scoring, has loads of drama, celebrate something like promotion, save ourselves from relegation etc ?
With those sort of criteria, there are a lot of excellent games that we could mention ?

So winning 3-2 away at Fleetwood (Bottom end of the Blue Square North table) was one of the greatest results of our 100 history? The criteria is our greatest ever win, I'd say that is fairly obvious.

It could be argued that it was managing to score three goals in that atrociuous fog that got us the third round and set up certainly one of the greatest wins in our history, if not the greatest.

I mean Stoke is the first time that I can remember that Pools have made national and international headlines through their cup scalp. We've been on Sky News, CNN, we made the front page of tghe Sunday Mirror down here, a small headline but important.

Actually I can remember that through Stoke we've had more column inches on our FA Cup win more than in past years when we;ve been in the third round but that could be due to the size of Stoke City, an old historic English club, Gordon Banks etc and the fact there very little shocks at the weekend.

When I wrote the e-mail, I was only writing of ther top of my head the best games that I could really remebr myself and I could have written a long list of games that could have been at the time considered the greatest ever, but I didn't have that much time.

Thank you Mr Tree.

No I mean as I say, I think Pools have ben very good to us over the last ten years etc in that they have given us so much excellent enetertainment, that it has made the task of choosing a greatest win more difficult because there are so many excellent games, that it is almost been very difficult to choose from.

I've been meaning to get the DVD of a few games because they were so good West Brom, Huddesfield, Stoke etc. Been to Fleetwood, Rushden, Peterbrough (twice), I followed the Grimsby score by CEEFAX because I wasn't subscribed to Pools World then. I saw the 2nd leg of Tranmere in 2005 on Sky at home.

You know, actually, when I said that, I think I was joking when I said that Fleetwood was in the list because of the fog being more of a hindrance than helpful.

How on earth could you not include the win against Blackburn Rovers (1974) or Newcastle Utd (1919) when we won 6 - 1, dont come out with shit like I wasn't even born then as that is no excuse as you should of been.

Well, as I say, I rememcher checking Ceefx the night of Grimsb, going downstairs every 15 minutes to check the score, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1, it just went on.

When I kept telling Dad what the score was, he thought I was having a laugh. rolfl  clappp

Well, who knew Hartlepool were going to blitz Grimsby that night ?

I was just expecting an ordinary game like everybody else, but I was wrong...what we got was really the start of the demise of Grimsby Town FC.

As soon the blitz happened, I thought "Grimsby are relegated !"

Mark my words, if Newell doesn't pull their socks, they'll be relegated to the Blue Square.

That's some foresight, you weren't even born in 1941 and Grimsby weren't even playing much because of the war.
