call me a cynic but i'm convinced by mentioning that he has spoken with us, he is simply putting himself in the shop window.

He was live on Sky Sport News not long after half time of the Spurs v Burnley game. Sounded like he was by a roadside somewhere, maybe a service station.

Said he'd only spoke to Hull's assistant manager for five minutes, I only caught the last bit of the interview but he was saying he'd look at all the options, certainly sounded far from being a done deal with Pools.

I fear we will be gazumped on this one.

If the deal is not already signed, there will be considerable interest in him tomorrow.

it sounds like he is using us to try to build interest, pools don't do their business in public they usually try to keep it behind closed doors until it's a done deal

Sounds like we're in line to get him too:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... d-him.html

It's not just paper talk either as our managing director admitted we had made an offer for him in September and was unsuccessful claiming that he could look again in January.

I'm not too sure of the move to be honest, he might be fit for his age, but he's still 39. I suppose a end of season deal might alright, if he signs for you I guarantee he'll score against us! He always does.

Cheers mate.

The frost/ice has been completely relentless here for a few days (it's been snowing a bit). As the weather forecasts aren't showing any significant sign of improvement before Saturday I really don't see the game going ahead. But hey! The weather man has been wrong before....but I expect a postponement.

Sounds like the club expect the game to be off as well:

According to this, he wants to play for two more seasons
and he hasn't got his coaching badges

I'll be very surprised to see him come here now, unless it's as a player/coach role. He would do his coaching courses while he's playing, but then again he could do that somewhere else too.
Maybe it depends on who gets the manager's job...................

exactly, they already have five or six strikers - why would he go there?
Oldham and Doncaster have always been sniffing around - Donny have a genuine chance of survival now and that would be the best place from a football perspective for him.
Unless of course he gets offered something extra to come here beyond his playing days, so to speak

Whilst he may still be a player who can do a good job at our level, would this be a wise signing? (should it prove to be true / come to pass)

I think a good number of us think that the squad needs strengthening, and the removal of Kyle from the wage budget frees up an alleged 3K per week.

With this money, I was hoping we could go and get two players as a minimum.

I suspect if Windass were to sign, we would be blowing that money on one player, so he'd have to be bloody good to warrant it, because that could well be it as far as the transfer window goes

Our ace card is we have no permanent manager, my pitch to him would be come in, doing a bit of coaching and if both sides are happy he could be full time player coach or perhaps even player manager for next season with Chris Turner continuing in his Director of Football role.

If that is offered, it would be a good move for him.

do we really want someone like that at the club could be more trouble than he's worth
