Don't even think about anywhere in Europe.

Hope this helps.

have a look at tunissia port el kantoui should be warmish and with a exchange rate of approx 2.4td/£ it is also a closed currency so you cant get it until you get there.
hotel kanta in p.e.k. is canny and right next to the marina

yes port el kantoui is a purpose built resort and not a typical tunissian place we have been 3 times and not had/seen anything to worry about

Not sure Tunisia in February meets the "nice and warm" criterion. When I went there one December you wouldn't exactly have called the atmosphere balmy.

Maybe Cyprus would be ok in Feb the closest I have been there is late November or April and both times of the year it was nice, here is the website I have had some real bargains from like a fortnight in Brazil for 1,200 quid for 4 of us.

In concurrence, after the initial outlay of the flights South East Asia must be the cheapest place to go holiday in the world. For a family I'd suggest somewhere like Koh Samui (which is like paradise) in Thailand where you can stay a very decent hotel for £10-£12 or even cheaper Vietnam where you pay even less for accommodation and the least I've ever payed for a beer (less than 20p in some places). In nearly two weeks in Vietnam I reckon I spent less than £200 and I was pissed every night  Even in 'expensive' resteraunts you are looking at a £5 bill for scran and drinks!

Fook I need a holiday

Its not the terrorists i am worried about, that could happen in any country.

Its reports you hear of children being snatched being taking to Tunisia and Morocco

Egypt is hot all year round.

If you're going anywhere in Europe then go all inclusive otherwise you'll be skint for the rest of the year.

Sharm El Sheik Egypt. 5 hours out of Newcastle. The main resort is Naama Bay and is purpose built but is still good for restaraunts and shopping. The diving and snorkelling is excellent. Currency is the Egyptian Pound. Should br quite hot too.

Everything is 30% more expensive in bars, restaurants etc because of the Euro while All inclusive prices are about the same. If you stay somewhere that has a few restaurants and bars and you don't have to pay for a meal or drink all week then you'll more than make up the money than if you went self catering and still have a decent holiday.

All very well and good.

But I don't see how this would make you skint for the rest of the year just cos a beer in the sun costs a few pence more?

If you're taking a family away for a couple of weeks you'd probably be looking at a few hundred quid more than this time last year purely on spending money.

I was trying to make the point that self catering family holidays are now extremely expensive since the pound has plummeted. I didn't think it was too hard to understand......even Sussex got the jist!

Depends where you go.

Where we go it's not that "touristy" and not overpriced. And the locals are nice enough folk that I wouldn't call them "greasys" or "oilys" whatever those nice terms mean.

OK, so the exchange rate aint great at the moment, but so what. It's only money, either pay it or stay home. Or go to some dodgy arabland and eatspunky food and risk being blown up.

Ayamonte. Lovely little spot, beautiful beach at Isla Canela just down the road and plenty of really good golf courses around too. About half hour drive from Faro.

we found the same last year we stayed at a place called los montesinos between alicante and murcia but because it is not a tourist resort the prices were spot on 2 chinese banquets with wine or beer for 22€

Going by the replies so far, might I suggest you dump a ton of sand in the dining room and turn the heating up for a week.
