Darren Clarke is odds on favourite to win in this year.

Does he deserve it?

Depends if they've renamed it the "Sportsman with a dead wife in the last 12 months award".

Possibly the outstanding achievement for Paul Hunter ??
Apparently Phil Taylor has been invited along for the first time.

Phil Taylor?

Since when has darts, or even golf for that matter, been sport?

I nominate Pugsly the hound for a prize in the bloodsport category for managing to rag a fox even after the loony left do-good brigade tried to outlaw the harmless pastime.

I have to say, no he doesn't. It is just a sympathy vote. That said, I am not sure who should win it.

The fact that Zara Phillips is second favourite says it all.

Darts is as much a sport as snooker & thats been included for years.I tell ya the greatest injustice of my generation was when Eric Bristow didnt win this award in 1980.

Eric Bristow not winning Sports personality of the year is a greater injustice than say the massacres in Rwanda or the Dirty war in Argentina in the 70's.

There ought to be a category for 'Crying On The Telly' and they should do that in the first five minutes just to get it out of the way and then carry on with the actual point of the programme which is to mark British sporting achievements. Yes Darren, sorry your missus is dead but this is the Ryder Cup, nowt to do with it. Lots of people die every day and they're all tragic.

Joe Calzaghe or Ricky Hatton for me like.

Surely it should be known as Sports Achievement of the Year Award, most of the people that win don't have personalities.

Who are all these people you are talking about?

Apparently their fame isn't big enough to get past the British shores.

we should replace them with best porno awards, all the clips they show would command everyone's attention. It would blow Coronation Street off the top of the ratings, literally.

actually, I think there already is something along those lines. I've often said about an ex-girlfriend of mine, that she could suck c***ks for England.
