True story.

My lad teaches at a school on Oldam which is almost entirely Bangldeshi and by coincidence the lads that run our takeaway, The Taj Mahal (the best Indian takeaway in the world) are from the same neighbourhood.

We told Cash the naan bread thrower where he was teaching and he said, "Thats just round the corner from where my mother lives but we sent our kids to the Catholic school".

Whats going on there like.

I know it's not your doing, but who the hell coined the adjective Bangladeshi?

Bengali I could accept, or probably better still "Bangla", since that part of the country name means "of the Bengali people".
I guess the media just made a Parallel with Pakistan, except that "Pakistan" doesn't have an inbuilt adjective lke Bangladesh so it needs something on the end.

It's bit like Americans saying burglarized instead of simply burgled.

Sorry about that rant.

Well, not really sorry.

Gerroff our kids back, he's got chubby fingers, arthritis, tunnel vision and ADHD, and he can't play an 'F' to save his life.

He's still the equal of any Bangla in a popadum munching competition though and his command of the pickle tray is legendary.

I bought some "Ahmed" mango pickle yesterday in the Asan superette. Bloody luscious it is.

Yeah great, but they sent their kids to a Catholic school. Y'know the Pope , Guy Fawkes, shagging altar boys, all that. Have you no sense of irony. Have I answered my own question. Obviously from Hartlepool I'd say.
