Poxic, how can I put this. Football is entertainment, in entertainment, the entertainer enterains the audience and if any good, the crowd applaud and if the're very good the crowd cheer. The emphasis is on the entertainer.
You would not go to see a comedian, and expect to encourage him because he wasn'r very good. Appeals to the audience to get behind him and laugh at his jokes, even though they are crap, would fall on deaf ears. ............. understand?
There comes a point where you have to say... hmmmm .... this is crap. it's called being cruel to be kind.

Just to tidy the thread up a bit, Snowy wants entertainment and MJ wants an added extra. That extra can only be passion and commitment and with these two comes effort. Pools have not displayed these qualities for some time and the attitude seems to be a at low not seen since the dark days of Martin Scott.

The players are good enough to avoid the bottom four places but not by much as we have seen recently. We seem to be sleepwalking into relegation with a belief that we are too good to go down (again). We are not.

When a perenial lower league team like Hartlepool United loses passion and commitment then there is little hope. Someone has to come in and instill these qualities or we really are doomed. I think Turner is too close to the players to bring anything new, we need - dare I say it - a Martin Allen or better, a Steve Cotterill. Someone who will not take egos or reputations into account and clear out the slackers.

PS: They might not have had the skills of the current crop but I'd rather watch the Dobsons, Hogans and Knowles of this world die trying that these lightweights giving up.

What I can't understand, is that in the game against Southend that extra something seemed to be back in the team. You could see the way that they all seemed up for it again. Why for only one game?

Maybe they were offered a bigger financial bonus.

I have to admit Mr Snowy, if football was really all about being entertained I would have chosen an different team to Pools a long long time ago. Entertainment is just a small part of the package. It's great when it happens but I don't go to the Vic (not to mention hauling my arse to all parts of the island) in the expectation of being entertained.

That said I agree with you, so does that make me crazy?
What you have said' is what I was taking for granted, a prerequisite, if you follow my reasoning. It's about loyalty to your local team in my eyes, any f**kwit can swan off and support the 'big boys', as sadly quite a few do, If I was gonna go for glamour, Pools wouldn't even be on the horizon, ..... following Pools is not the easy option. So for that very reason, couldn't they make an effort and couldn't POK realise it's a two way Street, they also owe us something.
