I'm not very well briefed on plasmas but it does sound like a great buy. My Panasonic recommendations are however based purely on the LCDs I've looked at!

It's not full HD mind. But then you wouldn't get a full HD plasma from a good make for anywhere near that price anyway.

Anyway, don't forget to look at how good the picture actually is first. That's the most important thing, no matter who makes the box!

As regards these coverplans, anything you buy muist be of 'merchantable quality'... in other words a telly must have a life of at least two years without going wrong. We always decline any cover or warrantry, but if it makes you happy.

insurances and extended guarantees are not worth it as most items have a minimum one year cover, and I've found that the life of most of my electrical appliances have been good. I've had the washer and tumble drier for over 5 years each and still going strong, 3 tellies (one plasma, one LCD and one old style) all over 3 years, 3 dvd players the same, my hi fi is about 12 years old, oven over 10 years old, the only things I find I need to replace every 2 or 3 years are things like kettles and Irons (even then it's cos I dropped the iron and smashed the bit you pour the water in). PC is over 5 years old, laptops both 2 years old.

I never buy the extended warranties on anything.

Dixons group:

Extended warranties equate to 4% of their revenue but 21% of their profit.

Spot on Mr Snowy.

The 12 months is a minimum not a maximum under The Sale of Goods.

I bought an oven about 5 or 6 years ago that broke after 14 months. After I pointed out the necessary from the Act to Comet it was replaced foc.
