Still thinking of buying a telly, but which is better...

A 720p HD thing with a massive contrast like 20,000:1 or more, or a 1080p with a low contrast about 1500:1 ?

And I've heard before on here that Panasonic are the best, if that is right would it be better to get a Panasonic 720p 100Hz or a LG 1080p 50Hz if they're both the same price?

It was much easier when the choice was only between colour or black and white.

Ripper you are so tight.

Get the 100Hz telly double quality of picture. Look for the best ratio
300000:1 is the best around at the moment. This on a 1080i telly
But you will need a HD sky box to view most of the HD channels around.

Yes the Panasonic are the best (In my opinion) around. I have just got one

If you are thinking of upgrading to Sky HD then wait until Feb, they guy who came to reset my Sky+ box said they are knocking the subscription charge for HD on the head around then. Price of the box will probably come down too.
