In the report of who "supposedly" in for the Pools manager job, the mail writes

"Leeds United head coach Neil McDonald is one of a number of candidates with North East connections who are rumoured to be among the contenders.

The Wallsend born former Newcastle United player, who spent a year in charge of Carlisle, is thought to be happy in his role at Elland Road but would be tempted by a return to management".

Only 24 hours after Sam Allardyce took him to Blackburn as assistant manager there.

It doesn't take much to check any facts, but that's the mail for you.

To be fair, the McDonald news was breaking news on Sky Sports News at lunchtime today, which is after the Mail deadline.

It may well have been after the Mail deadline which is now about 9am. But as I was out from 1030(ish) and I knew about it then I dont think it was actually breaking news at lunchtime.

Just another reason to print the Mail in Hartlepool , go back to two editions, which can at least keep people up to date with news that actual affect Hartlepool and not just with regards to the football club.
