They beat an appalling AFC Bournemouth side 1-0 to win the right to play Blackburn at home in the third round of the cup.

No doubt about it chuffed for them and it was thoroughly deserved but what sort of league is that when you see a team like Bournemouth, absolutely no quality at all.

As a die hard Poolie but living close to and working in Blyth, our company is a major sponsor of the club, sponsoring Main Stand etc. I even have to waddle out on the pitch every month or two to present Player of the Month awards etc.

Anyway we has about 20 customers at the game tonight and it was an excellent result and atmosphere.

Still hoping WHEN we both dispose of Premiership opposition in the 3rd Round, I will get my dream tie of Blyth v Pools (pref at Blyth) as I can for once get a real home tie rather than my usual 100 mile round trip to the Vic.

If I time it right I could even do a player of the month presentation pre kick off although with my Pools scarf carefully out of view until the whistle blows!

I was absolutely chuffed to bits for Blyth
You can only beat what is in front of you
And they did
And PJ
Will you be so dismisive if we beat a poor premiership side?

Harry Dunn for our vacant managers job??????????????

Got a team punching above its weight with little or no money to spend and sparse crowds.

Sounds ideal except for ridiculous facial hair which on principle rules him out in my book.

A cross between Village People & chewbacca!!

Not at all we did earlier in the season!!

I watched the game though and Bournemouth were an embarrassment to the football league, they didn't have the quality to create a chance in the game until an individual piece of skill by Connell (who is good but perennially injured). Blyth's very likable and honest manager Harry Dunn (great tash as well) was admitting that Blyth weren't playing well but they were never in any bother. You'd look at Bournemouth at second bottom of the football league and look at tonights performance and say they are going down, yet in reality they have achieved 21 points! I'd love to know how. Their are actually worse teams than that
