it was heading that way anyhow - IOR will be keen to make sure we stop flirting with relegation in League One as we have done in our last two seasons in this division, and seem to be doing so again this time (please don't anyone say we didn't flirt with relegation last season because we definitely did - we only got 4 more points than the season we actually went down)

what should we really expect of our little club,we get gates of 3500 we cannot compete with the big city clubs,in my opinion we are doing as well as we are expected to.its the same in all the leagues the more the money the better the club...m utd chelsea... birmingham wolves ..leicester millwall.we cannot compete with these clubs end of.;

Since wilson been in charge the gates have dropped, as soon as the regulars saw the tactical "genious" in action, We averaged slightly higher than that previously and correct me if i am wrong but our last 5 or 6 games were about 3100

so that explains how we got to the play offs twice in a row under Neale Cooper then......... I'm sure we finished above several clubs in both those seasons who are now in the Championship........
Anyway, that aim low philosophy only gets you relegated.
I expect a mid table finish, because that is based on where I believe the ability of these players lies. We were heading for trouble, that is a fact

During Neale Coopers 2 seasons we had the same resources yet we got the crowds well up over the 3500 and we did compete at the top end of this division, thats why most of us dont agree that we have reached our limit.

Bury are doing great with crowds of 2,000 on a good day, Crewe did well in the Championship for a fair few seasons and teams like Burnley are a small town with the team doing well.

if football boiled down to crowds and money, then we might as well print the final league tables now

so how do you rate the ability of the current Pools squad regardless of crowds or manager?

   clappp clappp clappp I'm very happy. Wilson's style of football was ball00cks.

The team didn't show committment or energy.

Some of the players we have now would have walked into Neal Coopers 1st eleven. IMO Neal Coopers motivational skills were head and shoulders above Danny Wilson's and that was one of the reason we as a club did so well in those two seasons.

I can't believe I'm being so controversial.

...so you start off a defeatist then, I'm beginning to see why Wilson was the manager of your dreams.

Yes, they should have waited till we were already relegated before sacking him stpid

Ffs now is the right time to do it before its too late. Well done IOR.

if it is based on a fear of relegation, then now was as good a time as any to sack him

I thought Scotty was left in charge for too long as the plane was falling from the sky.....he kept getting the odd result here and there to keep saving his bacon, maybe the club ghave learned from that?

I think a lot of people aere barking up the wrong tree. After listening carefully to Hodcroft at the AGM I can confirm that he was quite happy with the progress being made under Wilson. Results were not an issue in this dismissal and nor wqas league position which is still quite healthy. Crowds were down but they are down everywhere, so again not the issue.

For what its worth, my theory is that Wilson has made his views clear about the squad being down to the bones and sought some assurance about funds being made available. IOR have made it clear that this was not going to happen. Something therefore had to give - hence the parting of the ways.

Turner is already being paid a salary - so why not get him to "do a bit more" and take over team affairs. This seems to be an option that would appeal when money is so tight.

well he has hardly done himself any favours with regards to making himself marketable, if he is going to insist on not being able to continue in a job if money is tight. There are blokes out there who would relish managing our squad and getting the best out of them.

i think we should take a leaf from Bristol Rovers where Lenny Lawrence is director of sport then paul trollope looks after team affairs but Lawrence oversees all decisions he makes. so i think bring in a good coach and then have turner in his same role as he is now and have turner overlooking the management decisions made by the coach. Maybe could even be Colin West as the coach and then turner overseeing his decisions. they worked wonders last time they were in charge of the pools. or if not west then someone similar who will do all the day to day training and then turner will help with team selection etc????

Well him and Turner seemed to work well together last time they were at pools. Taking us from a relegation battle to a promotion winning side? in the play offs each full season in charge and then left us top of the table by a few clear points? so i cant see the problem any would have with that. was only an example anyways and he first sprung to mind as he was turner's asisstant at pools.
