that our 'striker' option on the bench yesterday clocked up his 84th football league appearance and is still standing on 0 goals, what does young Tymon have to do to be given an opportunity? Doesn't that absolutely lamentable record pass through Mr Wilson's mind as he throws on Foley to play up front supposedly to go and get us a goal, or was it him signaling his intentions that he was happy with a point

I'm not Foley's biggest fan (check my posts on him).........................................But he played well when he came on yesterday, playing more as a striker than out on the wing.

Records count for nothing really, and we're due to play Scunthorpe, so if they do then he will score against them. As 3 of his 6 have come against them.

And of the "so called" 84 league appearences, he has actually only started 17.

84??? Jesus Christ, I never knew he had played that much!! For him not to have scored a league goal in that time is criminal. Had I myself been playing that often I would have at least a couple of goals by now. banghead

Of course records count, he has still made 84 starts and not even looked like scoring in any of them I have seen

He must of some very incriminating pictures to get that many starts

I though DEMAND he starts against Stoke in the cup, as his record (and records count you said so) is 6 goals in 15 appearences not a bad record. So he obviously a cup goal scorer and we will need one against Stoke a goal every 225 minutes or a goal every 2.5 games.

Now that goal every 225 minutes can be improved as he only started 4 of those 15 games so he is scoring more frequently than that in cup competitions.

Do you agree or do records only count when they back your argument up??

I can improve that with the help of Madjohns inthemadcrowd I make it in cup competitions he has played 763 minutes scoring 6 goals that's a goal every 127 minutes or every 1.5 games.

So we agreed he starts against Stoke

A few goals in the autoglass are a pisspoor return for 84 starts

He should of been released ages ago

Usually a sign that an argument is lost when use of foul language is the only comeback.

A few goals in the autoglass, its 4 in the League cup, of which 3 have been against teams from a higher division. 2 against Scunthorpe when they were in Championship (2007/08) 1 against WBA ,in Premiership (2008/09) 1 against Scunthorpe in the league cup this season.

So your few goals in the autoglass is wrong. A player you obviously dislike so much you dont even know the vast majority of his goals are against higher league opposition. He only scored 1 in that competition.

Records count for everything in this business, if he clocked up 800 appearances and never scored a league goal, by your reckoning that would be no problem? If we also apply your logic, we should take the cellophane off him, dust him down and only play him against Scunthorpe as he's scored against them in the past, conversely, he may never score against them again ... the record is dismal and the fact he comes on and 'looks promising' every now and then, is neither here nor there, the full package is not very good at all, bearing in mind some players have been absolutely tortured for a lot less and actually scored goals to boot. He leads a charmed life, but Wilson did describe him as the 'future' .... I don't think so.

Bob you say he's 'only' started 17 games, FFS he's a forward and he's never scored a goal in his 17 starts or the 67 sub appearances it's an unbelievable record for a professional footballer. I'm talking about our bread and butter the football league.

No Bob, some people think the argument is lost when abusive language is used against the other person

I simply stated he is shit, which he is

I'm not a fan of Foley's. In fact Tax Paying Poolie has had many a go at me for having a go at him during games.

My point is that records are not the be all and end all of football.

Easter scored twice for Pools and many on here also thought he was shiit but since leaving us he not done to badly has he.

Jermaine Easter certainly didn't get a fair crack of the whip at Pools (I still don't rate him he's only ever had one decent season). He never even started a game and featured only 30 times as a sub. Foley has chance after chance to prove he has any worth and so far failed. He's a very, very fortunate lad to be involved every week.

One good season at Wycombe.

Sorry but that a blinkered view to attempt to justify that you think he was shiit as well.

He left us in 2003 since then he has scored 60 goals. in about 5 seasons, that not shiit, it pretty reasonable.(IMHO)

That's his record, he's only ever been successful in that one season at Wycombe and at the age of 26 he's rapidly becoming a lower league journeyman.

He's on a different level to Foley though!

It's not 'blinkered' its FACT, one good season is all he has had

Why on earth do some people bang on about Easter as if we let some sort of goal scoring machine free from our grasp

Neale Cooper saw him for what he was, below average cack

Plymouth's scouts must of been on crack cocaine when they recommended his signing
