I seem to remember Hereford laying on a buffet for the fans in their players lounge?, or was that Shrewsbury?.

I went in the terracing for the cup game last year. I reckon you will get a better view from the seating.

I've been to Hereford twice when the match was called off. The first time it got called off we went to Bromsgrove v Kidderminster, the second time it got called off was too late to go anywhere else so we came straight home. Not often you go to Hereford for a match and get home by half six.
I went back for the re-match on a Tuesday night for that first game - we lost 1-0 in the last minute of injury time after Horne dropped a corner and Ingram let the forward's prod of the ball trickle through his legs.
Then when we went to the chippy on the high street afterwards a taxi reversed into my car. Got home at daft o'clock
Great times.

my last visit there was the 3-1 win in 90-91, dalts getting the third. As Parmo says, happy days. Strangely, the ground hasn't changed one bit in the past 18 yrs and it was a shitehole back then  Maybe i'm being a bit unkind, i'd rather go to Hereford than some purpose built all seater ground anyday.

I've been there about 8 or 9 times now, and we never played them in the league for about 11 years. After visiting so many grounds so many times it kind of loses its appeal over the years. I've got to the stage where I'll go if I'm not at work and have a few quid in my pocket, otherwise I'll be tuned into the radio at work or on Pools World.

I think it was the season before 90/91 when we lost 4 nil and were 4 down at half time. In the pub before the match, wales were playing England in the rugby and as Hereford is really in Wales ( ) there was a very anti-welsh tension in in the air. Scary.

I wouldn't say that! Bar Brighton it must be the worst ground in the league. The Terrace part of the away stand is appalling.

The 'nicer' grounds are getting, the more I appreciate the likes of Hereford's ground. Every bastard ground is the same these days and it's nice to have one with a bit of character even if it means its a bit of a sh*thole. I can imagine there are a few others on here that feel the same.

I was looking at Colchester's ground for when we go there in February, it's always been one of the worst grounds in the country and now they've moved to this purpose built, all seater, every stand is the fcking same thing which is probably next door to Pizza Hut, Toys R Us and a plane journey ride away from the train station.

I'm going Saturday but only because we booked the train up weeks ago and got it cheap, if the only option was going in the car then I wouldn't be going because the thought of driving back from Hereford on a cold December night following another defeat without a drop of alcohol in my blood makes me cringe.

re: the games called off at Hereford. I'm sure I went there on News Years Day in about 1993, got all the way to the car park only to be informed it was off! banghead

nowt worse than going for a slash at half time and finding 400 blokes trying to use 2 urinals.

twas my least favourite league ground in the uk.

400 people in the bogs? Were you in the home end or talking about the game on the first day of the season when Allon scored and it was 37 degrees.

Colchester's old ground was a fair trek from the station, my point was that all new grounds are built out of town on the outskirts which is OK if you drive but a right twat if you're going by train.

It was a hell hole I agree but more preferable to these boring all seater pieces of crap that we have now.

A pedant and a pedestrian. The new ground is also a long way from either of the stations in Colchester although they have a travel / park and ride to the ground.

I must say that I did like the old style grounds, it was a step back in time and made me appreciate the improvements at the Vic all the more. I thought Boston, Halifax, Scunthorpe and Cheltenham when we were in the play offs all had a certain charm - wouldn't like to have been our home ground but a charm none the less.

Yes, I'd forgotten Cambridge. It's the nearest ground to where I live (in the top 5 divisions at least) and I go past it at least once a week. A long way from the station but a good bus service from there.
Barnet have been wanting to move from Underhill (isn't that in Lord of the Rings?) for a very long time so have never spent much on the ground and probably never had much to spend anyway. Any move would take them well away from Barnet - maybe they could groundshare with Arsenal at the Emirites.

Cambridge was good. I'm sure their bacon Sarnies got voted best in the league donkeys years ago...they were very fcking nice. Last time we were there I think they'd built a new away end and it was all seater. Think we drew 0-0.

Barnet is a shit-hole but I'd sooner be going there this season than Colchester, Brighton and MK Dons.

Probably cos it's a distant memory but The Old Showground (scunny) was a class ground and yet they swapped it for Glandford Park banghead Only went there once and I remember one of the Moose Men' being locked up during the game in a kind of garage next to the awayend. He was let once the game had finished as he'd served his detention rolfl

Chester is a perfect example of how not to build a new ground. Please please Pools, never move away from The Vic.

Barnet have now built a permanent brand new stand behind the goal where those temporary green seats used to be, so it looks like they may be staying permanently.

I think I read when they built that stand that it had been designed so it could be easily dismantled and moved to a new ground if they moved!!
