I bet over 50% of the country had never heard of the place.

When I was a kid I used to go there regularly visiting my dads family. I remember a song that came out in the 70's and I genuinely thought it was about the place. When they built it in the 50's and 60's most of the houses were prefabs.

It's almost impossible to find a house that hasn't got a flat roof!!!

they altered most of them in the eighties the remaining ones are private. bought before they sorted them out

I was exactly the same, whenever I drove up the A19 in the 70's, and glanced over to my right, at the toytown that was Peterlee that song came into my head.

can ayone remember the medium pace bowler called Peter Lee, and about the same time there was pop duo Peters and Lee. A golden age indeed to come from Peterlee.

Could there ever be such a thing?

And no better place for it.
