I can't believe I'm going to contribute to another POK Eurovision thread but here goes. The BBC should have said when Wogan goes then so do we when it comes to Eurovision. He was the only thing that made it barely watchable, him getting steadily pissed on Baileys as the night progresses and becoming from loose in his comments. Even now Wogan has released it's had it's day.

What do the BBC do? Use it as a vehicle to justify Norton's already huge salary. Surely it was already camp enough!? It doesn't really require a camp commentator as it's already as camp as any other single thing in the World.

IT'S THE SINGLE WORST THING IN THE HISTORY OF TV AND MUSIC.

I'd rather watch big brother!

For a 17 year old lad, or however old he is, to get excited about this show, in the same one i'd get excited about fanny at his age, is just the worst thing i've ever heard.

Because he's into all the old 80's ska music and he downloaded some songs for his daughter from this year's show.

By the way I do have a life: it's called going to Uni and supporting 'Pools. sctatchinghead

Well, to be honest I wouldn't have chosen Norton as commentator straight away but actually he does bring a certain sarcastic wit to the table, a la Wogan.

As for the camp thing, I'd prefer to say that it is "interestingly colourful". Nobody knows it became like it has in the first place it just sprang from sort of the start of the late 80s/early 90s when Eurodance was selling a lot of records and winning a lot of Contests and seeing as it popular and commercially successful, the genre of music just developed from there to the Contest we see today.

The song that 'Pools run out to - Get Ready For This by 2unlimited - is by a Dutch group would you believe that was released in 1991, just as Eurodance was first emerging as new, fresh music genre and was popular, as we were celebrating promotion. We must have kept it as our run-out music for 17 years for a reason, as it must sort of remind those people of 1991 and going to the clubs and listening to that music when they were young - now does that mean to say that because we've played the same piece of music for nearly 17 years, that HUFC is camp and out of touch ?

I disagree with that view.

But even with the "unique" type of music that is presented in the show, the show is still as apopular as ever before in terms of the actual content from people all over the world because of the great history and tradition of it, the thing which lets it down and is if we're not careful going to kill it off, is the problem of Eastern bloc voting.

What we can't understand from a British perspective is that the music that we produce today is absolutely outstanding and that is proved by the fact that is internationally popular. I believe a British can be sold to an international target audience. If we take Leona Lewis, for example, she has just gone over to the US as a newcomer and conquered one of the most difficult music markets there is with her music and become one of the most successful British female artists ever in the US market.

If a Brit can do that in America, I see no reasonable justification for us not being able to win Eurovision.

Well, the BBC have got to realise that without our illustrious commentator, they've got to persuade people to still watch it, which I think they still will do - that's what Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber will bring when write's our 2009 entry.

By the way, I watched Nana Mouskouri night on BBC Four last night, brilliant it was, a brilliant singer who proves you can succeed in the business and wear glasses. clappp

I am unfamiliar with this term.

Is it likely I too have a gouch and if so where would it be located.
