there's a post of mine in amongst the grounds visited section, but it should be part of another thread I reckon, so I'm putting it on this one to get the ball rolling

I've seen Pools win at these::

Darlo(both),York,Tranmere,Halifax,Torquay,Rochdale,Carlisle,Wrexham,Chesterfield,Hereford, Walsall,Stockport, Shrewsbury (old), Preston, Reading (old ground),Runcorn (old), Chorley,Huddersfield ( both), Sunderland (old), Hull (old), West Brom, Bournemouth, Bolton (old), Fulham, Stoke (old), Bradford, Doncaster (old), Leyton Orient, Cambridge, Bury, Scarborough (old), Colchester (old), Swansea (old), Barnet, Chester (new), Mansfield, Lincoln, Cheltenham, Plymouth, Kidderminster, Macclesfield, Exeter, Oxford (new),Boston, Southend, Peterborough, Oldham, Wycombe, Rushden, Burton (old), Swindon, Gainsborough, Fleetwood

that's 41 current grounds
and 14 grounds which are no longer there.
A few bad misses by me in recent years due to work or holiday committments, namely Burnley, Bristol City, Grimsby, Port Vale, Millwall, Accrington, Notts Co, as well as my old friends Blackpool and Scunthorpe. Been to them all except Millwall and Accrington. Just remembered Bristol Rovers as well.
That's another 10 grounds my win total could have been!!! It's 55 old and new, but could easily have been 65!!!! Although to be fair two of those grounds I've yet to visit at all (namely Millwall and Accrington).

There's loads of grounds I've almost given up hope of seeing us win at, some it's not possible to do anymore cos they're gone or going to be flattened

Cardiff: Ninian Park- they scored in the last minute to equalise the first time I went there in 87. Another time we were two up and ended up drawing,2-1 up in the last minute and lost 3-2. I don't think we'll ever win there, seeing as how they're moving into a new ground next season

Brighton: Goldstone Ground and Priestfield and Withdean - several visits Pools have never beaten these away either in their history (same as Cardiff and Gillingham) - another graveyard. However I have a feeling we've turned our jinx round on them and January 31st is going to be our time!!!!

Brentford and Gillingham: - how come we don't get to play them down there when they're at their shitest (i.e.right now - by the time we play them they'll be good again and we'll never beat them away)
Plenty other grounds I've visited plenty of times and never seen us get anything, as well as one off visits.

Preston away is one of those games that everyone seems to have gone to but the reality is there was no-one there!

I remember Fulham away, I think Keegan was in charge for them at the time and they'd just spent a fortune on a few players. I'm sure Horsefield played for them and Stevie Howard notched twice for us. We did indeed batter them.

Also went to Fulham a few years before that, we drew 2-2 after being 2-nil up. Joe Allon got both of ours and all their fans wanted Ian Branfoot sacked. I liked Craven Cottage before it went all bent and I have been in all 4 stands. What a guy I am.

the fulham game im talking about was december 1992 and it was saville that scored 2 after their keeper got sent off after 20 minutes. long before keegan went there.

for the record i have played at preston north ends ground ( for the civil service ) but i have never seen pools play there.

I was at the one when Jim Stannard got sent off, he was about 20 stone. Think he fouled Saville for the penalty. I was in the seats on the side by the Thames. It'll have been about 1993, Keegan will have gone there in about 98.

I will update my records about you playing at Deepdale!

when we tubbed them 4-1, it was the first time they had lost on that surface for almost a year (possibly more)
It was still the same a year later when we beat them again 2-0, a horrible surface and indeed the Football League committee should all have been dry bum f-ucked for ever allowing the damn stuff to have any place in the game at any level.
Grass is the ONLY surface to play 11 a side association football on.
I hope FIFA never bow down to any country or club that insists it gets another go, I'd pack in with the game

I'm a sure a Scots team experimented with it a couple of years ago - Dunfermline maybe? It got a resounding feck off I seem to remember, even though it was 'textured' and an improvement on the 80s stuff.

You'll be a sad miss Mr Parmo.

Russia played England on artificial turf last year in the Euro Qualifiers...

I was at both those games too. Also saw them stuff us 3-0 on proper turf a few years later when Andy Saville played for them.

nah - you know the type of surface I'm on about - that stuff QPR and Preston and Luton played on!!!
If it's near enough proper grass and behaves like grass with respect to the ball bouncing and people aren't sliding all over it, then I could be persuaded it isn't affecting the quality or traditions of the game.
If I can't be persuaded then fuck it, I'd stick to watching "grass" roots football. There's the rub!!!!

Mr Parmo you're getting angry about something that has happened in about 15 years! Chill! Have a beer- its almost the weekend and Pools are at home..... confised :coool:
