So what's new? Traffic in Harrogate is never free-flowing at the best of times....

Anyway, the snow looks great from my window, but I expect when I go out the roads will be turn out to be impassable

True, so true. It is even worse than normal today, no schools open at all, busses not running even a gritting lorry had an accident this morning

It's been snowing nearly all night in deepest, darkest Cumbria, but I've still had to go to work. One of my lessons only had two kids out of a possible 25, not sure why I'm bothering.

It's not stopped all morning here. Looks lovely and arctic. I live at the top of a very steep bank that leads down into town..hopefully I can just stand at the start of it to-day and slide down without moving my feet

Turnstile well and truly frozen at Smythe Mansions as was the garden pond poor fishies!
Battled my way in to Durham on the non-gritted roads, but still got out for an early 3 mile run around the very snowy and picturesque Aykley Heads grounds!
Thawing now and very slushy!

Am I the first Bunker casualty of this Bloody Snow? Just been out to hire a game for the lads for their 360. As I was coming out of the Billingham Town Centre car park upper level, onto the spiral exit, the car started to slide, and as I was only about a foot from the crash barriers before I could do much about it, I'd hit them. I managed to steer/slide the rest of the way down, without any further collision. I'll have to wait for the light of day to be certain, but it looks like just damage to the headlight and indicator covers. rage

Ask the important questions, hey! Halo 3.

Saved 6p on the rental, only £2.94, thanks to the Chancellor's VAT reduction.

It would have far easier to have shut the school for the day and save the children 40-50 minute journeys through treacherous conditions than to make them sit in a classroom doing generic worksheets because you can't teach them what you planned to do because there aren't enough people at school. That's the problem with rural schools, on days like yesterday less than half of the kids and staff make it in and it's not really worth it. We had one bus skid off the road on the way home last night (luckily no-one was injured) but the fact is that they shouldn't be made to make the trip in in the first place.

Schools close too easily nowadays the lazy bastads. What about the poor parents who are meant to be at work while the kids are at school, but instead have to take time off cos the lazy teachers fancy a day off and use the weather as an excuse? If the school closes for a day then the teachers should be docked a days pay to put them in the same boat as the parents will find themselves.
