I get a day or two's notice that I'm coming down with something, I can feel it in me bones. So I buy meself a load of lemons, and drink the juice of a squeezed one every three or four hours.

Usually works. If it gets any worse I have a secondary remedy that works at treat:

Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Big dollop of honey
Juice out of a chunk of root ginger (peel it and put it in a garlic press to squeeze the juice out)
Boiling water
Big slug of whisky

I put all that it a mug and drink it before going to bed. I normally wake up loads better.

1. If you agree that your body can fight off infections, then you can't still argue that 'nowt can stop or get rid of a common cold.'

2.Echinacea is derived from a plant, much as aspirin is...so hardly new age.
Besides, labelling a medicine 'new age' says nothing (except to the irrationally inclined) about whether it's effective or not.

3.The placebo effect is nevertheless still an effect and cures many people.
However, echinacea is not placebo-status, as shown by the scientific data around it which you've clearly not read.
