Ey there's this thread going on where POK has claimed Chris Turner is a legend cos he said hello to him last Saturday. It's going on and on and POK is keeping it going with totally pointless answers.

Personally I'm not getting involved.

Didn't Chris Turner bugger off to Sheffield Wednesday cos he got a better offer or am I doing the man a disservice.

He did but I don't have a problem with that. I did however object to his disparaging remarks about Pools every time we doofered his Wendy team.

Was glad when he fucked off off first time and wish he would fuck off again.

"it was because of me that Jim Provett saved them penalties..... bla bla bla"

Fuck off.

well i for one think he is a legend. He was the one who turned us around. He brought the feel good factor to pools and put together a great team, one that cooper had the benefit of.

Concurring with the above.

It seemed to me at the time that he could've stayed and enjoyed the success that he hoped for at Sheffield Wendy. Unfortunatly the lure of a 'sleeping giant' made him think he was realising his ambitions when he had a real chance of doing just that by continuing the progress he had already achieved at Pools.

At the time smug Wednesday supporters of my aquaintance around here didn't make it any better like.

I feel a little bit of both, he helped get us promoted, built a good signed, signed quality players like Tinkler, Williams, Westwood etc

But as soon as a big club came sniffing he jumped ship, and as richard said, no problem in that, he did support them as a boy, the pools bashing after though didn't help, the constant coming back to nick our players.

The interview about provett was annoying, as tree points out above.

And i dont really understand his role at pools now, if it was explained to us then fine, but the director of football/sport role has came under a fire a lot this season at other clubs, spurs and newc to name just 2, and i just dont think it's an essential role in the game.

I always thought Turner had more ambition than to sit in the background in a cushy office job and let someone else take all the glory.

It wasn't just the "lure of a sleeping giant" though was it. It was his home town team who he'd supported all of his life. A bit like any of us jacking in as manager of Gateshead to take over at Pools.

it was also a club he supported. Who here wouldnt fuck a team off to manage pools? I would do it without a second thought

Oh, and when he left for Sheffwed he raided the club for a couple of players as well. Thats unforgivable.

why is it unforgivable?
He saw players he thought would improve his squad and he signed them. Nowt wrong with that

Tell him he needs a slap, for having an opinion different to yours.

why does he need a slap like?
He has likened chris turner signing 2 players to stealing. Only one of those is illegal and one is perfectly fine. You holding a grudge against me mr adg? Is it because i called you fat?

If you talk to any pro footballer at whatever level like a feller I knew who was nearly Brian Labones replacement at Everton and ended up in Aldershot and played at the Vic, they'll tell you that profooty is the hardest job in the world, a few failures especially as a player and your out, no industrial tribunal, no compensation for hurt feelings.

Chris Turner played at a high level in the game and he'll have a steak of steel/ruthlessness, be very competitive and will have no illusions about what the game is about. I'd be surprised if he was tempted back to Sheff Wed cos it was the club he supported when he was a lad, only fans are that romantic. I'd guess he was pursuing success on his terms and saw the move as a shortcut. Any other club at that level would have done just as well.
