I must start of by saying it was a very quirky and enjoyable day. It's the little things like the announcer pronouncing Joel "Jo-EL" and reading out number 17 David Foley followed shortly after and unnumbered David Foley no realising he's already called it out that make you small.

I can't really comment on our attacking play in the first half because I couldn't see it but what I did see was us playing the long ball too much which suited Fleetwood and didn't work overly well considering the players could hardly see the ball coming to them because of the fog.

Porter was rightly given offside against him, they take the freekick apparantly while the ball is still rolling (thus it wasn't dead and should have been brought back) and split the defence in two with a long hit it and hope ball. They score, I get worried. How many times recently have we conceded a goal with a long ball going straight through the middle? Wilson must teach his defence how to defend these.

We score, I couldn't see it because of the fog. None of us realise we've scored until we can hear some distant cheers from where I believe the executive area was, where a small number of Poolies were gathered. Then the announcer stated Mackay had scored.

Fleetwood had very little possession in our half but when they did they looked threatening as we failed to deal with them properly.

For the second half I can no longer see our defence, I doubt I'd want to.

Porter was a cut above as you'd expect and was running the Fleetwood defence ragged. Anyway Sweeney put a good ball into the box, Mackay controlled and scored. Relief as we are now winning. So simple yet effective (at this level at least, I could argue that most League One teams (except us) would mark better blah blah). 2-1 and we deserved it as we had control of the game at this point.

Porter then scored a deserved goal. Robson got the ball on the edge of the box, I expected him to shoot but he crossed to Sweeney who drilled it low and found Porter. A nice and simple goal.

We then had enough chances to put the game beyond doubt but we didn't take them.

Then Fleetwood scroed, again I couldn't see but I was told it was "sloppy". Then Fleetwood seemed to have a spell of pressure near the end, well it was amid the fog in our box anyway. Fleetwood fans shout for ALB to be sent off but he isn't and we win the match.

In conclusion:
1. Bad defending cost us dear.
2. We played the long ball far too much in the first half.
3. We looked better when we started to pass the ball on the ground during the second half.
4. The fog wasn't helpful for anyone.
5. Let's hope we don't get Man U can you imagine how we'd deal with Ronaldo and Rooney if we can't deal with Fleetwood?

I must give credit to Fleetwood who did theirselves proud and who may find themselves hard done by. A fully enjoyable away day.

Edit: Does that make you feel more secure Tree?

Thats just the way Mr Rev is made. Doesn't make him a bad person though, Mother Theresa was a pain in the arse at times apparently.

You gave a good account of yourselves but to say you were unfortunate not to get a draw is way off the mark, had we been sharper we'd have scored 6 in that second half alone and that's no exaggeration. The fitness showed and you were completely overrun but our goalkeeping and defensive issues ensured the even the most moderate of outfits will always be in with a sniff against us.

The stats say we deserved to win.

Shots (on target)
Fleetwood: 6(3) Pools: 14(9)

Fouls
Fleetwood: 12 Pools: 7

Corner Kicks
Fleetwood: 3 Pools: 8

Offsides
Fleetwood: 0 Pools: 7

Time of Possession
Fleetwood: 41% Pools: 59%

But Fleetwood gave us a good run for our money, especially considering the gulf in leagues.

It was less comfortable than it should have been, but the win was still very much deserved. We were a lot better than Fleetwood, which is only to be expected. But, as said, our defence will give anyone a chance just now. I actually thought McCunnie played pretty well but there must have been 4 or 5 occasions when Matty Robson had to bail out the two inside him.

 Matty Robson in given credit for defensive play shock!!!
